| Miserable Married a Wonderful Guy This entry will be short - already dark outside and running off of flashlight now. Today was excruciatingly long. Started out hard, had beautiful views off the Barren Chairback Range, got easier, then difficult again. We hiked for 12 1/2 hours today and my feet are dead. The only reason that I'm in the shelter tonight is because every time I turned around with a miserable look of pain on my face, Kevin flashed me one of his great "you can do it" smiles. I pretended I was that little ole' engine that could. So, up the hills, under the fallen trees, and down the sheer faces of rock I went. We want to get to Monson SO BADLY that we skipped the shelter we were planning on staying at (where Mike and Terry probably are now) and pushed for 4.6 more hideous, long miles to the next one - Wilson Valley. That last 4 miles included barely visible AT blazes, bushwhacking, bog logs that tipped over on you when you stepped on them, gun shots (!!), and one wonderful hubbie. We we got to this shelter, Kevin told me to sit while he went off and got water. He got back and then cooked me dinner, when I know he wasn't in great shape himself. I'm pretty sure I married one of the best guys out there. My feet are still pulsing with pain. I just want to get to Monson. - Miserable Bobo |
