| After spending 2 solid days of picking up supplies from the grocery store, coming home and packing gorp, going back to the store for more supplies, coming home and realizing we don't have enough mac and cheese and... well - you get the point ... we're finally in Maine. Not yet at the actual Baxter State Park, but making to Maine after two layovers and a 3:30 am start is a good thing. The whole day I've been running through mental checklists, trying to catch some sleep and waking up worrying that we forgot something. So far, I haven't thought of anything left behind. So, I'm left to checking the itinerary every 15 minutes. For somebody who never makes it anywhere of time, I sure am being paranoid today. We had a great send off "Nishimuta style" - with lots of Dad's BBQ ribs (mmm-mmm), good wine and lots of quality time with family (aka "spoil-nieces-and-nephews-time"). After all the good-byes, all that remains is the anticipation of what's coming. For today, all I want is to get to the park. Tomorrow I'll worry about the hiking part. I'll let you know how that goes. - Sleepy PS - Watching everybody with the newest Harry Potter book is quite upsetting. Scholastic needs to release a hiking-size version for those of us unwilling to haul around 5 extra pounds. |
