| September 24, 2000 I consider to be the best day of my life. It all started when I got home from a friends house and my mom and dad were secretly talking about something that they didn't want to share with me and my two sisters. When I finally got it out of my mom what was going on, she said that she had found out from some girl online where the boys were filming SOMH and that it was only about an hour away from where we live. But the problem was that my dad refused to let us go. My grandma even agreed to drive us there. So after minutes of convincing our dad, we were off to meet the boys, hopefully. There was my mom, my grandma, me, my two younger sisters, and my best friend. We had black markers for signing, pictures for them to sign, and a camera with some film. We kept telling ourselves not to look forward to this, because we weren't actually sure if they were going to be there. So we get there at about 8:30 and there was a group of girls, maybe 10 or so... standing around. We ask if they'd been out yet, and they said yeah, but not for a while. So we all get out and waited. There were mostly teenagers and adults there, by the way. My sisters were the only kids. Well, we could hear Shape of My Heart playing really really loud inside the theater. So, we waited a while, and everyone starts saying "it's Nick, it's Nick". So there I see, Nick walking out to us, looking as hot as ever. He signs some autographs, takes some pictures, and talks to fans. I was too scared to ask for a hug. This was the first meeting of a Backstreet Boy I'd ever had. Then we wait a while and out comes Brian. He was the funniest of them all, and I actually asked him for a hug, and talked to him. He was singing, and then he stopped, and I said, "keep singing, don't stop" and he said "I can't let you hear the new single, it's a secret." Then my mom congragulated him on his marriage and asked to see the ring and he showed it to us, it's beautiful by the way. Then I said that I think Leighanne's awesome too, and I love her. And he said "well, I love her too". Then out came Howie. I remember hugging him the most, because we're like the same height, and I still remember going cheek to cheek. I felt his beard/sidburns on the side, and aww... my heart melted. Then at that same time Kevin came out. I didn't get many pictures of just Kev, because I was trying to get autographs, hugs, and my mom was taking pictures of my sisters and both of the guys. I did get a picture with Kevin though. That is my favorite item that I own in my house. :) I also asked for a hug, and to tell you the truth, he's the best hugger of them all. He just felt like he was holding on, and I kinda backed away, and he just hugged me more. It felt like it lasted hours (even though I'm sure it didn't, hehe). That was awesome. :) After getting autographs, hugs, and pictures, he left. That's when Kristin came. She came in a white car. I waved to her and she smiled back. Then she went over to Kevin and Kev's bodyguard picked her up and hugged her, swinging her around. So, a while later, I yelled out to her, and said hi and she said hi back. I asked her if she could come over, and she said that she was sorry but she couldn't, that if she did she would get in trouble. She is so beautiful in person to, by the way. Well, then out came AJ after a long time of begging him to come out. He was so cute. He was being rushed, so he wasn't out there for long. They all wanted to go home. After AJ, they all started to leave. Kevin got into a silver car, and Kristin in her white car, and started to drive away. The other guys got into another car. So we said to me grandma "can you follow him?" and she said of course. So we all piled into the car, and started following him at 11:00 at night. We followed them for a while, but my grandma just wasn't fast enough, and after about 15 minutes, we lost them. I don't think Kev was going the speed limit either, lol. So, that was my encounter with the wonderful Backstreet Boys. That was the best day of my life, and I will never ever forget it. |
