My Movie Journal
These are great films that should be watched
Movie selection of the week (New Movie once a week)
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery Rated: PG-13 (1997)- Mike Myers (Austin Powers and Dr. Evil), Eluizabeth Hurley (Vanessa Kensington), Michael York (Basil Exposition), Robert Wagner (Number Two), Seth Green (Scott Evil). The entire trilogy is great. Mike Myers is at his zany best. I bet they laughed the whole time they were filming the movie.
Rated G
Rated PG
Lilo and Stitch (2002)- Tia Carrere (Nani), Daveigh Chase (Lilo), David Ogden Stiers (Jumba), Ving Rhames (Cobra Bubbles), Chris Sanders (Stitch). A great animated film the whole family can watch. Lots of funny quotes and a touching story. A must see for anybody. "Oh good. My dog just found the chainsaw"
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)- Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idol, Terry Jones, Michael Palin. All you can do is shake your head at it. There's nothing you can say. It's Monty Python, what do you expect?
Shrek (2001)- Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and John Lithgow (Lord Farquad). One of the great animated films of all time.
Rated PG 13
Days of Thunder (1990) - Tom Cruise (Cole Trickle), Robert Duvall (Harry Hogge), Nicole Kidman (Dr. Claire Lewicki), Randy Quaid (Tim Dolan). A good racing movie. A little more bumping and hitting than there really is in NASCAR. This is the movie that Tom and Nicole first met.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)- Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), Sean Connery (Indy's Dad). The last of a great trilogy. The second movie wasn't as good as the other two though.
Men In Black (1997)- Will Smith (Agent J), Tommy Lee Jones (Agent K). A really funny movie. The worm guys are the best and it was good to see they got more screen time in the second film. Will and Tommy are the perfect pair to play in this movie.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)- Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold), Beverly D'Angelo (Ellen Griswold), Randy Quaid (Eddie). One of the classic Christmas films. You have to see it every year in December.
O Brother Where Art Thou? (2000)- George Clooney (Ulysses Everett McGill), John Turturro (Pete), Tim Blake Nelson (Delmar), Holly Hunter (Penny), John Goodman (Big Dan Teague). The music is great (that is not George Clooney singing) and if you've ever read The Odyssey in high school, you'll be able to compare the movie to the epic.
Smokey and the Bandit (1977)- Burt Reynolds (A.K.A. The Bandit), Jerry Reed (Cletus Snow A.K.A. Snowman), Sally Field (A.K.A. Frog), and Jackie Gleason (Sheriff Justice). One of the best good-ol'-boys movies ever. Jackie Gleason is great in this movie.
Rated R
Kingpin (1996)- Woody Harrelson (Roy Munson), Randy Quaid (Ishmael), Vanessa Angel (Claudia), Bill Murrey (Ernie McCracken AKA Big Ern) I have to have a bowling movie on the list. Bill Murrey is the great one in the movie. How can you not love his hair. It's so goofy.
Shawshank Redemption (1994)- Tim Robbins (Andy Dufresne), Morgan Freeman (Red). One of the best films of the 90's. Well written and well acted. This is one movie that everyone has to see at least once.
