| Skipjack was happy with his crew. In no time at all they had defeated Cornstalk. He and his crew searched the area for Cornstalks body. They found only a few bodies that were stuck in the mud on the rivers bottom. But not Cornstalks body. It was nowhere to be found. The bodies they had found, they piled them into one area and set them afire. Being over confident,Skipjack assummed Cornstalks body had floated down river in the dawns light. Knowing he had to be dead. With all the bullets flying around nobody could have escaped the assult. When the sun finally peeked over the mountains, Skipjack sent a few guys down river on a skiff to locate any bodies they could find. Bringing them back to dispose of. Hoping they would locate Cornstalk. After a few hours they returned with a few bodies they had fished out of the water. Cornstalk wasn't one of them. Disgusted, Skipjack ordered the bodies burnt. For most of the day they burnt bodies.Trying to clean up the area and to leave no traces behind. Happy with the work they had done they loaded up the cannons and equipment and headed south to load their gold. --------------------------------------------------- Cornstalk's army set up a camp near enough to the river but not close enough to be seen. They set around mostly in shock of what had happened that morning. Cornstalk told his brother the gold had not been there at all. "I saw it myself!" said Corncob. "That was not our gold brother," said Cornstalk "It was mud made up to look like our gold.". "If that wasn't the gold,then wheres it at?" said Corncob. "I don't know, but we will find it!" said Cornstalk. Cornstalk sent one of his best trackers,Meatloaf, back to watch Skipjack and crew. Meatloaf, named after his father Meathead, was one of Cornstalks most feared solders. He had no mercy for his prey. Meatloaf returned with the news that Skipjack was loading his ship and preparing to sail. Cornstalk decide to follow Skipjack, guessing he was going for the real gold. They moved to the rivers edge, hoping Skipjack would head south. --------------------------------------------------- |
