I believe that education has been giving me so much. Perhaps, I could say that education has been diverting my life. For that reason, in this site, I would like to appreciate and express my gratitude to all of the people, especially my parents and teachers, that have been giving me so many opportunities to be just like now.

To be honest, I had never enjoyed the joyful and blissfulness of being in kindergarten. My mother told me that when she took me to the kindergarten, the teacher told my mother that I was not befitting to be in their class, and recommended my mother to take me to the elementary school. I sometimes tease my mother, saying that she might be happy with the disapproval of the teacher, as she did not have to spend money for the uniform and tuition fee.

I was very happy to be able to finish elementary school from SD No. 1 Kaliuntu. According to my teachers, many important persons were also graduated from this school. During the time in this school, I was just not like my brother and sisters, who always became number one in their class. I was not a clever student, but the most important is that I was not a naughty student. Honestly.
In 1983, I started my experience being the student of SMP 1 Singaraja, the best and always number one junior high school in Singaraja. I had a lot of fun with my friends in the Boy Scout, did many things with my friends in OSIS (student union). A part from my activities, I was a marginal student, without any good achievement. But, I learned one thing then: I have to be better than the others.
After finishing study at the SMP 1 Singaraja, I was lucky to become the student of SMA I Singaraja, the oldest high school in Bali, the best high school in Singaraja, or probably in Bali. I had many good memories here with my gang: study together, start smoking together, and hunting for durians together. Briefly, I took many pleasures from this environment. I also spent my time in the OSIS (student union). It supposed to be the good chance for having girl friend, but c.. At this school, I understood how important the education is. My dream was just pass the national university entrance examination. Luckily, I did.
Finally, I passed the university entrance examination. And in 1989, I commenced my study at the Dept. of Marine System Engineering, ITS Surabaya. During this time, I just spent my time for study and TPKH, the Hindu students association. To support my daily life, I did some business,@bought souvenirs in Bali and sold it in Surabaya. For the tuition fee, I was backed by some scholarships. My live was quite hard during this time. But I am proud, I can pass one of the most difficult time in my life. Without the full material and immaterial support from my parents, what my life would be.
In September 1995, I had opportunity to take the MSc course at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne the UK. I took Marine engineering as my major, and again, with support from my family, especially my lovely wife, I finished the course in 1997.
Now, I have been in Japan for more than 3 years, since September 1999. I am studying at Kobe University of Mercantile Marine (KUMM) with fully support from Hitachi Scholarship Foundation (HSF) for Doctoral Course. I am doing research in marine machinery selection using MADM approach.
