No Dragons were harmed during the construction of this page.
No Dragons were forced in any way to do anything they didn't want to do.
(This means no force, no drugs, no pursuation, no bribes, no witchcraft etc. were used to make them appear.

All Dragons on this page get well paid for their work, which is appearing in the pictures and let people look at them.
And they don't have to appear if they don't want to.
They are totally free to go if they want to.
They are totally free to do what they want to do.

So, if it takes time to download this page or some pictures are missing, you know what's the reason.

Dragons

Most of us know what a Dragon is.
Some of us don't.
So I'll try to explain.

It's a lizard that flies...hm.

It's a magickal, mystical animal.

The common western image of a dragon, is that of a great snake with scales, four eagle legs and batwings. They also have horns and spikes everywhere on their body.

But I have seen dragons with just two legs.
(Would you call that a dracotrice?)

No, it's a wyvern. It has been discussed if cockatrice - basilisk has something to do with wyverns genetic...

----------------

Chinese Dragons don't have wings. They fly because they feel happy and joyous and light - like Falkor did in the book and the movie "Neverending Story".
Chinese Dragons have beards and furry ears and their nose is quite flat, not as pointy as the western Dragons'. Instead of spikes they have hair on back and elbows and at the tip of their tails.

This is an Imperial Dragon - you'll reckognize an Imperial Dragon by how many claws it has on each leg.  Only the Emperor had the right to use clothes with a five fingered Dragon embroidered on them.

if you want to see more chinese dragons, here be vases, swords etc.

Western legless Dragons are called Wyrms.

If a Dragon has wings, they can be of many different varieties. The batwing variety is still the most common. Some dragons may have feathered wings. Faerie Dragons have beautiful insect wings - butterfly or transparent dragonfly(!) wings.

agons vary in size too. The smallest ones can fit into your ear, the biggest would have trouble getting around in the streets of your town.

Dragons exist in any colors. To see some examples of them, go and see my Dragons by colour -site. This page shows black, white and grey, blue and green and red, golden and bronze. That page shows them all...

Dragons tend to like living in the mountains, but they can live anywhere.
All Dragons have inner fire that keeps them warm anywhere, that's why there can be Ice Dragons.

Dragons can live among the clouds, in mist, between shadows
- or stars.

Round the Polar Star lies Draco, the constellation Dragon. Humans tell the story behind the constellation differently, but I believe in Draco, in Dragonheart. That is where Dragons go when they die.

There's a Dragon in the moon, too. He can breath both fire and water, and he desides if it's warm or rainy down here.

As you can see, Dragons are very versatile and fine creatures.
I do hope, that you know now, what a Dragon is.

A magical, mystical animal.
