| I'm a big horse fan...I love to ride English or Western, and have trained horses for a while. My favorite horse is my girl, Misty, who I've trained since she was 2 years old. These days I have a huge herd of Rocky Mountain Horses, as well as my beloved Misty. I'm now into raising and training these gaited horses for resale. Check out my web page for more information on the farm and horses. I also love to read, especially sci-fi and fantasy books, but I do enjoy other outdoor activities. I love to swim and race on the jet skis, and occasionally ride the snowmobiles.. ATV's are a must on the farm!! I'm looking forward to fishing in the spring too...lots of lakes on Grand Mesa. Bob loves jet skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and just being active in general. I'm slowlly getting him into the horse scene...he's even showing with me this year (2006) on Bambi! |

| Fascinating Information About Us!: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hi. Bob and I have been Cedaredge, Colorado for about five years now, and we've grown to love this tiny town. It's been quite a change from our homes in New Mexico...a bit colder, and definately more snow so far. We've been working our tails off around here, cleaning up our property, and building many new things around the place. We finally built our new home in 2003, and have been finishing up some major projects. We have a barn, hay shed, equipment shed, round pen, and arena put up. This fall & winter, we still need to do the two-tier terrace out front, so I can have a garden. We've met so many new friends here, and are really happy that we're here. Now if we can just get my mom to move up here from NM! |

| Daisy & I having some fun with ground games on the day of my accident, Oct. 3, 2004 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This year, 2004, had been going well, until Oct. 3. I (Jen) had a little accident with the horses. I was putting on a rope hackamore during a horse "Play Day", when a horse behind us broke his lead & rammed into us. Daisy spooked, I guess I tried to hold on, which caused me to lose my index & middle fingers on my left hand. Not a good day! I've got to say that I was lucky to have so many people around who cared... they got me calmed down, caught my horse, and found my fingers. Needless to say, the fingers couldn't be reattached because they were pulled off. The ambulance ride was ok... though the IV bag fell right on my damaged hand as we took off. Ouch! We had an orthopedic surgeon on call at the emergency room, so he came in right away. After some local injections to numb the pain, he got the stubs cleaned & stiched up. At home, with Percocet & antibiotics in hand, I've had to do strong saline soaks 3 times a day to heal the fingers. What joy!! The best thing about the accident is that my sister came to help the day after the accident. What a wonderful woman she is!! She helped me with everything, from bandaging my hand, to cleaning the house. She truly is an angel on earth!! The other angels have been my husband (of course!) and the ladies from our local Saddle Club!! They organized a meal rotation, so that Bob & I have had hot meals (and dessert!!) every night. I never had so many people that cared about me!! October 2005: Recovery was a long process, but things are pretty much back to normal. I actually was back on a horse 2 weeks after my accident (very gingerly, of course!)... I showed my mare, Jenna, at the Grand Junction horse expo. I think it was the day after the stitches were taken out... I had to be VERY careful... plus, it was cold that weekend, so my stubs were quite sensitive. My fingers are still a bit sensitive (because of the scar tissue), but I'm using the hand pretty much normally now. The cold affects them quite a bit, so I'll need to be really careful this winter. I need to go out and find a seamstress to alter a number of my gloves...having those pieces of cloth flopping around irritates me! April 2006: Life is going well now. The fingers are pretty much healed up, and I don't have too many problems with them. They still feel "tight", as if something is wrapped around the stubs, but they should just get better over time. It's amazing how quickly you can adapt to an injury. =) |
