You walk towards the largest of the small trees around the savannah, looking forward to the shade. When you get there, you realize that the tree is much larger than it appeared-around 10 feet tall-and was rather a pretty sight.
Each leaf was a different shade of green or gold, and covered every high branch, like a giant, multi-colored bush. The bark itself was a honey brown color, and was smooth, not a rusty, red/brown as the others.
A sudden gust of wind blew. It felt good on your sweat-streaked face, and you enjoyed it as long as you can...until some leaves started falling from their branches and stuck on to your face. You wrinkled your nose, and picked them off, falling gently to the ground. One last leaf blew off from the tree, and landed on a small spring.
You blinked. A spring? You looked back down, and indeed, there was a small spring forming at the right base of the tree. The leaf created small ripples along the once glass-smooth surface, rolling over the reflected face to the edge...
And once more you did a double take at the reflection of a face staring down at you. It blinked, and you slowly looked up. A smaller melcey stood at one of the smaller branches, head tilted side-ways as she was studying you. You also tilted your head, and tried to start some piece of conversation.
"Erm...heya?"
The melcey raised an eyebrow, then slowly grinned a little.
"Hi."
She jumped off the branch and landed next to you, grinning. Now that you could see her better, you studied her. She was pink and yellow, much smaller than Milejien, and had two wings tight agaisnt her. You slowly came to a reaction to this...wings!? She noticed your expression, and saddened some, and somehow managed to tighten her wings even more to her sides.
"I'm Akane; one of the first melceys to come and live in the Savannah.."
She started fidgeting, now rather nervous. You blinked.
"Um...I thought melceys didn't have wings?" you asked. She gave a wry grin.
"Not many were..at first there were only a couple melceys with wings, including myself, but now it's become a slightly common trait among us. We are also all from the theme of Darkness; even though we aren't shaggy or heavily built as the others."
Oh. Well, that explains it..
"Would you like to see my stats? It's right over there!"
She pointed behind you, and you turned around to look. Hanging from the tree was a silver plaque with writing on it; it read:
