I have a wonderful, 2-yera old Husky named Nanook, the Siberian. I am almost 58 myself and he is the first dog I have ever had! He was given to my son by a friend but he couldn't devote the time and money necessary to raise a Siberian. I have had him f r 1 year and 8 months. Nook weighs 60 pounds and has ice-blue eyes. His face is mostly white with very little mask. He passed all of the basic obedience tests in a PetSmart obedience class we took (12 sessions). He can do quite a few tricks. He loves other dogs and is very ood with "toy" breeds. I walk him for about 1 1/2 hours every day and he has imporved my health immensely. My husband and I love his howl and he will howl on command if we initiate the process. He likes to go for rides and sits in the back seat of my car with his snout resting on the window. I have a Pontiac and the badk window only goes down half-way so it s just perfect for some "snout action!" I loved Nook the first time I saw him when he was 2 months old. I really didn't ever think I would ever have a dog, but, after keeping him for 2 or 3 days until my son could find a home for him, I couldn't give him up and so now he is "home." It was a struggle for me as he is very strong and is a real type A dog, but I have worked with him until he is pretty easy to handle. A few months ago he was bitten by a snake while we were hiking out in the woods. It wasn't a poisonous snake but it did abcess. Our vet fixed up the afflicted paw and it was soon healed. Nook loves to get out and run in the country and he always stays with me and my daughter whose home is in the country. I've read many books about Siberians and about dogs in general. I love taking care of Nook and he is very humorous and affectionate. He just seems to me to be the most beautiful dog in the entire universe and I hope he lives a very long time. I hope we will grow old together!!

we think your photos of ketah's birthday party are really cute. we had a party for our puppy's 1st birthday on sunday. her name is minty & she is a miniature fox terrier. it is unusual to be so goofy about dogs in new zealand but we can see that americ n's are accepting of treating dogs like humans. new zealanders are fond of dogs but they are usually guard dogs, guide dogs or working dogs on farms. dogs are not allowed many places in new zealand. not in lots of parks, cities & beaches (in summer) & certainly no restaurants. karen & kayleigh

I love your web site, the water is great. Would love to have it as my screen saver but with my husky, Storm. She's 3 & a bit. I've had her for 5 months & I'm her third owner (the last owner had her for 5 months). I thought her behaviour was related to ins ability in owners but now I know, after reading info on the web, that it's "normal". She's one of the family and we wouldn't part with her. She has light blue eyes and her colouring is black & white. She's like lightening if she see's an opening to run. I find her in the car, open the door & tell her to come in the car, which she loves, and home we go. She tried to make friends with our 2 cats but they wouldn't be in it so now she chases them at every opportunity. My name is Max and I am a siberian husky that was lost and then my mom found me on the way to the pound. I love to run and dig and I don't like to listen to mom and dad when they call me once I get loose. I love to talk to my mom and dad but they don't lways understand me and sometimes I am very antisocial, I love to get under the bed, especially when mom goes into a closet and I think she might have medicine or Frontline to put on me. I want to obedience school and I behaved for a little while but if get loose they can come find me and I might go home with them or I might just run away, after all they keep me up all the time and now I have to share with another little dog they think they saved (I really like the play time with Pepper, but I don't wan them to know that most of the time.) I have a blue eye and a brown eye and I am about 2 years old, I do love kids and walks across the dam, everyone stops to talk to me and tell me how pretty I am, I already know that. Wish I had another husky to play ith; my dad says he wont take a million for me or a cent for another one like me. Mom says that if she got me while I was still a little pup rather than five months old I would be move affectionate and less anti-social. Got any advise for my parents on ow to get me to play. They finally let me sneak up on the bed after they fall asleep and make myself comfortable, they say they don't like it but I think they do. I know that they do get tired of my hair shedding but afterall, they don't need to bathe m very often and I do like to go out. Any advise for my parents. I like to wave goodby when dad leaves in the morning and I greet him every night. I think I need to go to agility training, what do you think. I love your pages.

Miss Ketah's site is fantastic! We are shortly in the future going to start a site for our three Siberian Huskies. Their names are Mutt & Jeff who are brothers and Brownie. They are all males and they are all six years old. They are of the working class o the Siberians. We both have shared our lives with Siberian Huskies for approx. twenty five years. There is no other breed out there for us. All of our Huskies have brought happiness, love, joy, devotion etc. but the best of all, they are our close friend . Your site is one of the best sites that We have seen so far, and most likely will always be. Huskies do have one of the best temperments, but they are canines and if they are provoked, even the kindest most loving Husky could bite. I must admit, the hree Huskies We have now have never bitten anyone. But We did have one Husky that bit one time and it was because of being provoked. We highly commend you on your site and all of the information. Hopefully I will be able to write to you when We are ready o start our site of our Siberian Huskies. Our huskey was named Ava (Avalanche), and he was the most feared animal in the neighborhood until the neighbors got to know him, and then they found out you could let the children hang from his neck. Congradulations on your designing progect. You did a great Job. arf-arf. Had a Siberian Husky during the 1960,s and 1970.s. She was black and white. A real good hunter. Lived in Northern New York. She never barked. When my sister died. She came pstairs to our bedroom and howeled three times and returned to her bed down celler. It was the exact hour and minute my sister died. It was earry when it happened. My dad had breathing problems. We lived on a river with a big hill comming up to the ho se. When ever my dad got to the bottom of the hill and was ready to go uphill. She would step in front of my dad and press her body against his leg. Not letting him to take another step. My dad would bend down and grab her by the neck hair and the dog would litterly pull him up the hill, and never once did she go faster than he could move. The dog never was taught to do this. She did it on her own. There are many memory's of things she had done for the whole family. Now my five year old grandson wants a siberian Husky. I can can't say no. So mayby one day soon we will have one. I found one three years old and the owner wants $4000.00. I told hi he was nuts. Thank you for everything and now I will bow yow. Big Jerr

Your husky is beautiful! My finace had one, her name was Cassie. Unfortunately she got off her leash one night and ran away. She was run over. It's been really hard for us since her death. On a good note, she had puppies 4 months before she died and we k pt one. Her name is Kita. She's husky/black lab. She looks more like a lab, but she has one blue her just like Cassie. I am very excited and hope and pray that the new member of our family will feel herself fine by us ( I know so far that it is a "she" ). She's not going to be a puppy which is'nt probably very easy nor for us either for her. She is also a mistreated and hungered but we both, my husband and me, have promised that we will do our best to bring this dog feel herself good again. And what`s the ost important - to feel herself loved. We already tried it once - we found our Simo ( a Bolongese ) in the old City of Tallinn. Tallinn is the capital of Estonia which is my homeland. Unfortunately Simo died from cancer a month ago. I think we know a lot of dogs but we don't know much of huskies. But we will. Thank you all of your three for giving me a little bit more comforte and confidence. Have a pleasent and joyfyl and of cause, a long life and wellcome to Finland !

Hi Ketah: My name's Ivan and my daughter's name is Krissi. We were adopted three years ago by our human, Kate. Before that, we had been kennel dogs in Colorado where there's lots of snow; our previous owner took us to dog shows and teamed us up to pull sleds. We really liked that and wondered if life in HOT Southern Utah would be to our liking. Unfortunately, our new owners could not keep us and put us up for adoption. That's when Kate came into the picture. Now we are house dogs, do volunteer work for the Dix e Humane Society (Kate is the chairman of the education committee and we do classes in elementary schools - really COOL!), and I am a registered therapy pet. Krissi is training to be one but she's not as friendly as me. Everyone at rest homes say I'm be utiful (dark red/white with artic blue eyes) which goes without saying; I am, after all, a siberian husky! Krissi ain't bad either; gray/white with a spilt (one blue eye, one brown eye like yours; looks like you're winking all the time!). In the end, Kr ssi and I have adapted very well to life in HOT Southern Utah (we know all the best places to have the air conditioning blow on us). Sometimes, we even let Kate sit in the cool air with us! Bye for now - Ivan and Krissi.

I loved your page. I have two siberian huskies of my own. The first one is Jahil he's ten years old (our time). His brother recently died, and he was pretty, sad. So I got him a friend. Her name is Estrella, and she is very outgoing, she's 6 years old, and they are both lovely. Even though I get pretty worried a out Jahil, about his age. I get very sad, two weeks ago he hurt his back, because he made a sudden movement and he could not walk. I was histerical! The vet came to see him, and he said that it was because of his old age. I love him so much, I don't know hat I would do without him! I've had him since he was born. He's everything to me. I tried to breed him with Estrella but it was unsucessful.! Your dog, looks exactly like Estrella. My dogs are so spoiled. But very obedient. If you could share anything wi h me about huskies I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

This is a great site. My husky is 2yrs old and her name is Nagin(in sioux that means shadow). She is the smartest dog we've ever had the pleasure of living with. She loves to howl and her fav games are "fetch the fuzzy" and "chase". Her best friend is a r ttweiler named Rock and she has two more friends, a blind poodle named bitsy, and a chihuahua named Sandy.
