Kenny is counting the money in the cash register�s tray, before closing the tray, as his best friend, Holly is coming out of the backroom.
�So, racking in the bucks?� Holly asks.
�Enough to stay in business, at least,� Kenny says, as Holly looks at the jack-o�-lantern.
�I think this pumpkin is rotting,� Holly pokes it with her finger, before looking at the expression carved into it. �And the smile seems crooked on one side.�
�I think it look perfect,� Kenny says, with a grin.
�Considering that Samantha carved it, I�m not surprised,� Holly says, under her breath.
�What?� Kenny says, not sure he heard her right.
�Hum, how about the costume party, looking forward it?� Holly asks, changing the subject.
�I guess,� Kenny answers. �Can you watch the cash register? I need to tell Henry how much money there is in the cash register.�
�Sure,� Holly answers, as Kenny walks into the backroom. �Hmm, I wonder if I would be able to get him to come if Samantha wasn�t coming.�
Meanwhile within the Horsemen�s dark cave, Conquest is facing his fellow Horsemen, holding the full bag Greling had brought him.
�So what is this big plan of yours anyway, Conquest?� War asks.
�Do you know what tonight is?� Conquest answers with a question.
�Yes, October 31st, Halloween,� Death answers, angrily.
�All Hallows Eve, where demons and ghouls and monsters are commercializes, for candy,� Famine says with disgusts.
�Let me guess, you going to turn yourself into a Halloween mascot like that fat man in a red suit or that oversized rabbit that is better serve as dinner,� War mocks.
�Very funny,� Conquest says as he opens the bag. �With theses, I can cast a spell that should cause massive chaos and destruction. Greling!� Greling comes walking from the back of the cave. Conquest hands him the bag, �You know what to do.�
�Yes, master,� Greling says, walking out of the cave with the bag in hand.
�What is this spell, anyway?� Famine asks.
�It like you said Halloween had commercialized demons,� Conquest starts. �So, why don�t we just show them what it likes to be demons?�
Couple hours passed, and Kenny dresses in a black suit with an equal black cloak and vampire teeth in his mouth, with Holly who is covers in fake mummy wrappings, but pieces of her skin still shows through like her eyes and mouth, or most of her left shoulder and part of her right arm. The two friends are walking down the street when they approach a two-story white house and stop.
�This is Samantha�s house?� Holly asks.
�I think so,� Kenny says, causing his vampire teeth to falls out.
Holly can�t help but laugh, �Maybe you should wait till we get to the party.�
�Right,� Kenny says, keeping the fake teeth in his hands.
The two walks up to the front door and Holly rings the doorbell.
�Not much decorations, or any,� Holly notices as they wait.
�Yeah, hum, Samantha said her parents don�t like to decorate much, except at Christmas, and sometimes, birthdays,� Kenny explains.
Finally the door opens and the two see Samantha, dresses from head to toes in a black dress, low cut, but not enough to show any cleavage and a cross necklace around her neck. Kenny can�t help but be amazed at her beauty, but Samantha doesn�t notice she got his attention.
�Hi, guys, I�m almost ready, come in,� Samantha says, with a smile.
Kenny and Holly, both of whom had never been in Samantha�s house, follow her in. Samantha stops at an end table, where there are two sapphire earrings on top of a black cape. Kenny and Holly look around, without moving much in way of steps.
�So where your parents?� Holly asks.
�Out,� Samantha puts on one earring. �We never get much treat or trickers, so they didn�t brother with any candies and just went out for dinner.� Samantha puts on the other earring. �I�m glad there this costume party tonight or otherwise I will have to stay at home.�
Holly then notices a picture on the fireplace. The picture is of an elderly woman, who looks like an older Samantha.
�Who this?� Holly asks.
Samantha is putting on her cape, when she turns to see what Holly�s question is about. �Oh, that my grandmother.�
�She has a beautiful necklace,� Holly notices the crystal necklace wrapped around Samantha�s grandmother�s neck.
�Yeah,� Samantha says, as she walks toward the picture and looks at it dearly. �I always loved that necklace, when I was six she let me wear it while she visits. My grandfather gave it to her, when he declares his love for her. When he passed away, she was forced to pawn it so she can pay for the bills.� Kenny notices tears running down Samantha�s face. �And now she�s gone, I wished I have it to remember her and to remember the kind of pure love my grandparents have for each other.�
�You okay?� Kenny says, trying to comfort her.
�Hum, yeah, sorry,� Samantha wipes away her tears before showing Kenny a smile. �Now, let�s go, before we missed the party. David and Jeremy are meeting us there, right?�
�Yeah,� Kenny says, depresses that she brought up her boyfriend.
It didn�t take the three friends long to reach the costume party, held at a classmate�s large house. Once arrived, they notice how much people are there, all in different costumes, some dresses as monsters from movies, couple clowns, even couple dresses as Battle Defenders. They also notice they are seeing a lot of kids they never saw, probably meaning there are kids from Crestview Heights South High School.
�Hey, catch it out, we�re Halloween costumes,� Holly notices someone dresses like Battle Green.
�Samantha.�
Samantha turns to see Jeremy, dresses completely in plastic knight armor, walking up to her.
�Jeremy,� Samantha says, with a smile, while Kenny looks on disappointed and places his vampire teeth back in his mouth.
�Hey, Samantha, I�m sorry I wasn�t able to meet at your house, but it took forever to put on this armor,� Jeremy tells her.
�Jeremy, I told you it would be okay, besides I walked over here with Kenny and Holly,� Samantha explains.
�Oh, I see,� Jeremy says, eyeing Kenny for a second.
�Hi, guys,� David says, dresses like Zorro, right down to a plastic sword. �I mean guys and girls.�
�Nice one, Zorro,� Holly says. �But I take Antonio Banderas anytime.�
�Hey, Kenny, a vampire huh?� David notices his friend�s costume. �Smart, you can tell girls that you going to suck their blood.�
�Hum, well, hum,� Kenny says, nervously, realizes Samantha is grinning at him.
�David, you probably sure be careful when you seat, you might stab yourself in a very unpleasant place,� Holly says, causing everyone to forgot about Kenny and laughs.
Meanwhile in a different cave, Greling is standing behind a large cauldron. He drops a bit of bone dust in the cauldron. He then let fall the now empty bag to the ground. Greling waves his hands over the cauldron.
�They mock us with their disguises,� Greling says. �Now let their disguises become their reality. By order from Conquest, make it their reality!�
Suddenly a puff of green smoke burst out of the cauldron.
Back at the costume party, everyone stop what they�re doing as they are struck with small headaches.
�Oh, that weird,� Samantha says, as her headache passes, then she notices Kenny is still in pain. �Kenny, are you okay?� But he doesn�t answer. �Kenny?� Samantha places a hand on his shoulder, but he then turns around with bloodstain eyes and real fangs.
�Yesss,� Kenny says, with a hiss.
�Arrggh!� Samantha screams and bumps into a green goblin before turns around to see a werewolf, who howls.
�Okay then, Battle Ready,� a Battle Green says, before running off.
�W-what going on, everyone changed,� Samantha looks around confused.
�Yes, we changed,� Kenny says, staring down Samantha. �And it�s dinnertime. Guess what on the menu. Or should I say, who?�
�Kenny, just calm down,� Samantha says, panicking.
�I�ll calm down, after I washed down your blood,� Kenny says, before charging toward her.
Samantha grabs Kenny�s arms and tries to hold him back, but he manages to pushes her down. Samantha drops her Transformer and she reaches for it. Samantha turns around and holds up her Transformer in front of her, as Kenny stares down at her.
�I can�t,� Samantha realizes she can�t fight Kenny or transforms into her armor in front of all of these people.
Kenny wets his lips, �Now, stand still, I don�t like to play with my dinner.�
�Kenny, please stop,� Samantha says, frighten.
Kenny opens his mouth and charges toward Samantha, when suddenly he is pulls back by Jeremy, still in his knight armor. Jeremy turns to face Kenny.
�Stay away from her, you foul beast,� Jeremy commands.
�Jeremy?� Samantha says, still on the ground.
�I go to open that tin can and uses it as a trash can, once I�m done with you,� Kenny charges toward Jeremy, causing the two to wrestles as Jeremy keeps him at arm lengths.
�If only I have my sword or mighty steed,� Jeremy says, wrestling with Kenny.
�I was saved by Lancelot,� Samantha returns to her feet.
Jeremy finally pushes Kenny back and punches him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
�Jeremy, stop!� Samantha rushes to Jeremy�s side and grabs his arm.
�I still have to slay this beast, my madam,� Jeremy tells her.
�Don�t call me that,� Samantha says. �Wait, where David and Holly?� Suddenly she hears David screams. �Oh boy.� Samantha runs off, before runs back to Jeremy. �Don�t slay anyone.� She looks at Kenny. �And don�t bite anyone.� She runs back off.
Samantha finds David, with his sword out, facing against Holly, who is only speaking in growls. Samantha sees David striking at Holly with his sword.
�David, don�t!� Samantha rushes forward but is too late. She then notices David had cut a large �Z� into the wrappings covering Holly�s torso. Holly answers in only a growl. �Oh, I need an aspirin,� Samantha places a hand on her forehead.
Later the Battle Defenders and Jeremy arrive at BookZ, after Samantha manages to convince Jeremy and David to help her rally together Kenny and Holly.
�Henry, we got a problem!� Samantha calls upon entering. �Henry!� There is no answer, but she notices the backroom door is open and through that she notices the secret entrance to the lab is also open. Samantha faces her friends, �You guys stay here, and don�t kill anyone.�
�Can�t make any promises,� Kenny says, grinning.
�Try anything and I will run you through like a dragon,� Jeremy tells him.
�With what?� Kenny points out.
�Give me your sword,� Jeremy tells David.
�No way, this sword belongs to Zorro and no one else,� David explains, as Holly growls. �Aw, shut up.�
�It going to be a long night,� Samantha says, as she enters the backroom.
Samantha looks into the entrance of the secret lab, �Hum, Henry.�
Suddenly Henry pops out from the corner, dresses in gray robes, large glasses, and a huge white wig, which because of the spell isn�t a wig.
�You rang?� Henry says, causing Samantha to jump.
�Henry, something had happened,� Samantha says, lightly scares that the person she thinks might be able to help had changed like her friends.
�Yes, something did happen,� Henry says, walking over to the large computer. �A change in the air, a metamorphosis that spreads throughout the entire city. Turning people into what they dressed as for Halloween. A marvelous spell of unknown possibilities. But you don�t seem to have changed at all.�
�Hum, yeah, I don�t know why,� Samantha tells him.
�Mm, that necklace,� Henry notices the necklace Samantha is wearing.
�Hum, this,� Samantha touches the cross around her neck. �I borrowed it from a friend, for my costume.�
�It a cross, legends said that crosses had magical prowess against the forces of evil,� Henry tells her. �But then again you could just have a strong will against such spells.�
�Okay, but how do we change everything back to normal?� Samantha asks.
�The only thing I could think of is to destroy the source of the spell,� Henry presses couple buttons on the console. �And there seem to be a great source of magical powers coming from outside of the city, in one of the old caves.�
�Perfect, and with everyone else in their current state, I must go by myself,� Samantha says. �Can you keep an eye on them?�
�Well, I was working on an experiment that could change the way we lives today,� Henry says, with him raises his voice as he continues to talk as lightning is heard in the background.
�O-Okay, I just ask Jeremy, then,� Samantha says, backing away.
�Mm, suit yourself,� Henry says, before facing the computer screen and rubbing his hands together with a large grin on his face.
Samantha enters the front of the store to see David and Jeremy watching Kenny and Holly growl at each other.
�It going to be a very long night,� Samantha says, as she leans on the doorway.
Later at Greling�s cave, he looks into the cauldron, with green smoke still coming out of it, when he sees Samantha, in her armor, coming to a stop at the bottom of the hill outside the cave.
�Trouble,� Greling looks back at the cauldron. �If the spell is ruin, then my head will lay outside the Horsemen�s cave.�
Samantha looks up to see the green smoke coming out of the cave.
�That must be the source of the spell,� Samantha says, then notices Dustoids coming out of the cave, charging toward her. �Dustoids, of course.� Samantha presses the �2� button on her Battle Gauntlet. �Battle Bow, Battle Ready!�
Samantha�s weapon appears in her hands and she start firing laser arrows at the Dustoids. Two Dustoids jump toward her. Samantha raises her bow horizontal to block the Dustoids� sword strikes. She falls to one knee, before manages to pushes them up. She roundhouse kicks them, before seeing another Dustoid, who manage to stab her with its sword. Samantha spins into a fall, as she drops her Battle Bow. She looks up to see a Dustoid kicks her down the hill. Samantha reaches for her weapon when two Dustoids rush her with their swords readied. She spins away from her bow, causing the Dustoids to miss her. Samantha starting to get to her feet when another Dustoid strikes her with his sword, causing her to falls backward to the bottom of the hill. Samantha looks up to see the Dustoids watching her.
�I don�t believe this,� Samantha says to herself. �At this rate, my friends could get hurt or� wait,� Samantha looks at her closed fist. �The spell turned us into what costume we were wearing. That means it turned me into a witch.� Samantha returns to her feet. �With magical powers.�
Greling walks to the cave entrance, �Now what?�
�I hope this work,� Samantha says, as she closes her eyes. Suddenly her right fist glows pink, �It working.� Samantha points her right hand at a Dustoid and the Dustoid starting to levitate. The Dustoids look up confused.
�Oh, damn, the spell turned her into a witch!� Greling yells.
�Alright,� Samantha quickly lowers her right hand, causing the levitating Dustoid to slams down into the ground, bursting into dust and smoke. �You guys might outnumber me, but I got more power.�
�Kill her!� Greling orders.
The Dustoids rush Samantha, who rushes down her right arm, creating a long pink fin that flies forward, destroying each of the Dustoids it hit.
�Now let try this,� Samantha says, waves around her arms, with both fists glowing pink. Suddenly Battle Violet, Battle Green, and Battle Orange appear beside her and they take fighting stances. �Okay then, Battle Defenders, Battle Ready!�
The three Battle Defenders copies rush forward, before turning into lights, colored the same as their armors, and fly forward. Each of the lights fly past and through Dustoids, hitting and destroying each of them as they pass, till none are left and the colored lights disappear.
�Now for the spell source,� Samantha says, before jumping up and starting flying toward the cave entrance.
�I don�t think so!� Greling yells, before throwing green blasts from his hands at Samantha.
Samantha holds up her left hand and a large pink square appears in front of the open hand. Each of Greling�s blasts hit the square harmlessly.
�Harry Potter got nothing on me,� Samantha holds out her right hand and the Battle Bow flies into it.
The pink square disappears and she points the Battle Bow at the cauldron and fires a laser arrow at the cauldron, causing it to explode in a large green smoke. Suddenly, Samantha falls back down to the ground.
�I guess the spell was broken,� Samantha starting to get back up.
Back at BookZ, Kenny growls when his eyes return back to normal and his vampire teeth fall out.
�Ah, what the?� Kenny says, confused as he looks around to see everyone had returned to normal.
�Hum, did someone spike the punch?� Jeremy asks, equally confused.
Later on, Samantha had returned to BookZ, and reverted out of her armor, with the five teenagers and Henry talking near the counter.
�Well, I better go, see you later Samantha,� Jeremy says.
�Later,� Samantha says, smiling.
�Hum, what did happen tonight?� Jeremy asks.
�Who knows?� Samantha lies.
Jeremy looks confuses, before turning around and leaves.
�So do you really think a necklace what saved me?� Samantha asks Henry.
�Remember I was a mad scientist at the time,� Henry tells her.
�Saying the man who helped to create giant robots,� David says.
�Anyway, we knows Samantha isn�t immune to the spell, remember the whole fear spell thing,� Holly says.
�Please don�t remind me,� Samantha says.
�Well, it could be that while everyone dresses as monsters or people from a different time period, Samantha kept her senses because she dresses as someone who is timely,� Henry says.
�Are you saying there are witches, at least still?� David asks.
�We fight demons, remember?� Holly mocks.
�Anyway, at least I know Jeremy would protect me if I need it,� Samantha says.
�Yeah,� Kenny says, depresses.
�Except that you are more likely to protect him,� Holly mentions.
�And by the way, I watched the recorded footage of your fight, and that is some amazing moves you pull off,� Henry says.
�Yeah, definitely kickass,� David tells her.
�Sound like we got our own Magiranger,� Holly says.
�Magi-what?� Samantha asks, confused.
�Ah, Samantha, we got so much to teach you,� Holly wraps an arm around Samantha�s shoulder, as everyone else laugh.
Back at the cave that Greling used, Greling is laying on the ground, injured from the explosion Samantha caused. Greling looks up to see Death is standing in front of him, holding his scythe.
�P-Please, h-help me,� Greling reaches out a hand, in pain.
�The others might don�t mind your continuing uselessness, but I�m getting sick and tired of it,� Death tells him.
�P-Please, show mercy,� Greling prays.
�I will show you mercy,� Death tells him. �The mercy of a quick death.�
Death swings down his scythe, pinning the blade onto Greling�s back. Greling screams echo in the cave as his body is consumed in an explosion. Death turns around, with his scythe by his side, and starts to walk out of the cave.
�One pain in the ass down, four to go.�
