Fliter’s
Surprise
We have just passed the mountains and reached the village where Trans and I left Fliter. Flarth had been complaining to Trans about all the sacks of stuff he had been carrying for a full hour. He even started to complain about me carrying Zeo and kept saying that Trans should carry her since she is his little sister. I for one did not care at all. I just wanted to get it over with without complaint; yet, Trans seem to only hold a spear the whole flight and that annoyed me slightly and I wanted to ask why, but I didn’t.
“Okay! We’re finally here! All o’ ye can rest now,” Trans says as we land to the ground.
Flarth drops all the sacks on the ground and falls flat on his face, panting hard and glared at Trans and started to curse. Trans just made an awkward look back at Flarth then turned away from him and started to laugh. As I look at the both, I lose my balance and fall backwards. Zeo giggles and hops off my arms and starts to stare at Trans then to Flarth. As she did, she let out a sigh.
I got up and scratched my
head. I then walked over to Flarth and let out a hand in front of him. “Get up
and calm down, my friend,” I said with a smile on my face. “Do you two always
do this?”
He looked up at me, took my
hand, and got up on his feet. “Thanks, Trav,” he dusts himself off, “It usually
is worse than this, really.”
“You two coming or not?”
Trans calls to us both. “Enough talk! We must find Fliter. Who knows what she’s
doing now! You two are so slow!”
I raise an eyebrow. Trans
starts to whine like a little child. I glance over at Flarth and notice that he
seems to be quite calm.
“Trav,” Flarth whispers to
me, “Would it be fine if you and I put a temporary spell on him?” An evil look
appears on his face and a fang appears at the side of his mouth, “I got a good
one up my sleeve,”
“What kind of spell are you
addressing to?” I whisper back to him.
“Tell you later. Trans is
giving me a headache,” He says then walks toward Trans and raises his fist,
with the silver claw glove, in front of him. “Shut up! Stop being so annoying!
Whine again and I’ll claw your throat out!”
Trans gives Flarth a glare
and stayed silent. Flarth smirks and walks into the village. I just stand
there, looking at the sky. Are Trans and Flarth always like this around each
other? I thought to myself.
“Hey, Trav!” Flarth calls
over to me, Trans continues his bitter stare. “Come on over here!”
I walk into the village.
Trans lets out a small grunt and starts walking into the village as well.
“Is that Fliter? What’s all
the stuff with her?” Zeo crosses her arms. “Looks pretty expensive!” She starts
to walk closer to Fliter. “Oh, cool! A pony!”
Trans quickly pushes Zeo out
of the way and makes her fall over on to Flarth and I. As he sees Fliter, his
eyes widen.
“What the heck is all that?”
he says loudly. “Fliter! What is all that crap?”
Fliter smiles sweetly and
starts making the graceful pony, she was riding on, gallop towards us.
“It’s all the stuff I bought
with all the gold coins I found at the inn,”
Trans falls over on his
back.
“W-wh-what!? That’s crazy!
All of it?”
Fliter nods with a cheerful
grin.
“Uh-uh-” A shocked
expression appears on Trans’ face. “I can’t believe you! I can’t believe or
understand you at all!”
I get up and help Zeo to her
feet. Flarth pushes himself up and dusts himself off.
“Hahaha…What’s wrong,
Trans?” Flarth chuckles. “It not like it was your gold.”
“It was my gold!”
“Oh…”
