Usagi is a 14 year old girl (16 at the time the series ends), who has trouble at school, is constantly chasing fleeting chances for romance, is naive, is a crybaby and has a poor sense of balance. On the plus side she is friendly, cheerful (most of the time), dedicated (if not at first), compassionate, loyal, caring, loving and a heck of a good friend. She is the Sailor-suited Beautiful Soldier SailorMoon, a fighter for love and justice, who defends the world, especially the good people of Tokyo, from evil.

Usagi-chan leads an interesting life, filled with action, suspense, drama and romance. And then there's the superheroine part. =) With the aid of her friends, the Sailor Senshi, and their two cat guardians, Luna and Artemis, Usagi will protect the Earth from many evil doers seeking to do their evil deeds. At first, she is quite hesitant to do so, as she really wants to live a so-called normal life. But she cannot escape her destiny, and at the end, she wouldn't want to: She cares about all people too much to simply ignore them. And then, there's the many people she cares very deeply about.

Usagi's boyfriend is Chiba Mamoru, whom he marries in the future, as in way in the future, when she becomes Neo-Queen Serenity. They have a daughter, Small Lady, who is known as ChibiUsa in the present, and who hangs around present-day Tokyo for a couple of years because the future Usagi can't stand her, and besides, present-day Usagi's life is not full enough. =) Kidding aside, her daughter makes Usagi's life much more interesting than she may have ever imagined. But she's happy about it. =)

In the first season, Usagi is revealed to be the reincarnation of the Moon Princess, from the legendary Silver Millenium. As the daughter of Queen Serenity, she is the rightful owner of the powerful Ginzuishou, and pretty much the most powerful Senshi in the series, but she never brings this up, or behaves as such, not because she is not able to use her power when its needed (and she can wield a mean Ginzuishou =) but because she is too nice to think of herself as different -- more powerful -- than her friends. Thus, SailorMoon is not really a leader for the Sailor Senshi, mostly because she does not think of herself as such, even though she will pull them to fight together in moments of dire crisis. She is well loved by her friends and well thought of by her enemies (some of them, at least =) because of her strength and conviction, if not always respected.

As the series progresses, we see Usagi growing as a person, which is pretty much the main driving force in the series. The second season, we see Usagi's reluctance in embracing her destiny, but she grows out of it, and learns to accept a bright future as her main reson to fight. The third season we see a crucial growth in power, will and faith in her self, as she achieves her Super henshin, which will be achieved by the other inner Senshi -- and her daughter -- in the fourth season. By the final season, the Planet Senshi's power lift SailorMoon to her ultimate power level in the anime series -- perhaps a little too early. But even if she grows as a Soldier and as a person, some things never really change. =)

SailorMoon is naive and trusting, and sometimes she is the last one to learn about what's going on. She is a cry baby, but she can be the strongest Senshi when it comes to sacrificing herself for the sake of others. She cares about everyone, and her love for humanity helps many evil doers leave their evil ways. She's loyal to her friends to the point of blindness, since she would get everyone into real hot water when trying to save them, but it is very obvious that she is well intentioned. She believes in the good inside everyone, and will not sit blindly watching others suffer if she can avoid it, sometimes, even if she knows she can't.

Usagi is klutzy but loyal, loving, but very jealous when it comes to her Mamo-chan. As the series progresses, we see her growing to become a more responsible and dedicated heroine, if always a naive klutz. As SailorMoon, she is the most powerful of all the Senshi, and a true soldier for love and justice for everyone.
