Dolphins are one of the most loved and intelligent animals in the world. They swim in oceans world wide from Scotland over to the Carribean. They prefer to swim coastal waters, bays, lagoons and sometimes rivers.
Dolphins love to play and spend most of their life playing than doing anything else. Theyre so friendly they might pop up along the side of the boat but remember not to try and feed them because they might get too used to humans and come right up to boats in the future and may get trapped in fishing nets.


There are at least 35 species of dolphins out in the ocean! The most known one being the bottle nose dolphin. Dolphins belong to a group of marine animals called toothed whales because they have teeth. Toothed whales are also called odontocetis

The smallest dolphin is the Tucuxi and it weighs about 50kg and grows to be around 1.2m in legnth
The largest dolphin is the killer whale.....Yes! the killer whale is a dolphin and belongs to the dolphin family delphindae. Dolphins in cold waters grow to be larger than dolphins in warm waters. Male dolphins grow to be larger than female dolphins.

FEEDING HABITS:
Dolphins eat mainly fish and find their food by echolocation (see whale facts) In 1 day dolphins eat one third of their body weight!
OFFSPRING:
Femlae dolphins give birth to one calf about every 2 years.

LIFE SPAN:
25 to 65 years and sometimes longer depending on the species of dolphin.
