Since the beginning of Season Six, although you wouldn't know it from checking out the fanfiction on alt.tv.er.creative, the Powers that Be have studiously kept Kerry and Carter apart. Maybe it's because of the natural, easy chemistry that Laura Innes and Noah Wyle seem to have in their rare scenes together. In any case, where the show leaves off, the imaginations of fanfic writers pick up.
Many of the Kerry/Carter stories are rated NC-17 or contain adult/sexual content; consider yourself forewarned. Basically, we all have dirty minds... hehehe.
sparkle's ER fanfic
I just can't say enough good things about the stories written by Leyla Harrison, aka sparkle or sparkleweaver. Leyla's time in ER fan circles was regrettably brief, but in the months before she lost her battle with melanoma, she blessed us with two series of beautiful Kerry/Carter stories. Thank you, Leyla, for sharing your talent and your vision with us.
Cimerene's ER fanfiction Zone
I love Cimerene's sweet, tender version of Kerry and Carter as a couple; she has written several series of fics about them. Read the existing parts of "Unexpected Circumstances," and then bug her about finishing it.
Carterfics
Cathy and Melissa started writing a lovely Kerry/Carter fic, "Der Rosenkavalier," as part of their "Carter Does County" series. So far it's unfinished, I think because they got discouraged at the turn of events in late Season Six. Cathy and Scotty have lately been writing a very steamy Kerry/Carter/Luka/Abby series, aptly titled "The Eternal Quadrangle."
Shirley's ER page
Shirley has been known more for her Carter/Lucy fanfic, but lately I've been working on converting her to a Kerry/Carter 'shipper, and she recently gave us a delightful gem called "Wishing" with a couple of epilogue pieces.
Kerann's stories at The Golden Kingdom of ER fanfic section
Kerann writes so beautifully, and English is not even her native language! Her story "Long Distance Call" is a sensual beginning to an as-yet-unfinished series. Pester her to keep writing!
Jim's ER Fanfic
"Epoxy" and "Unplugged" tell us about what *should* have happened when Kerry and Carter were living together during Season Five. Jim's promised me a sequel/continuation to "Unplugged," but he's another person that will need to be gently nudged to keep writing.
Clotho's fanfic page
Clotho writes marvelous, subtle stories about Kerry and Carter as friends and hinting at more. My personal favorite, and one of the most original fics I've read, is "Unto the 500th Generation."
Michelle's ER page
I think Michelle was officially the first one to write a fic that suggested a Kerry/Carter pairing (sort of), in "A Night to Remember." She also has them linked in her two "Icebreaker" stories: in one they are friends, in the other, more than that. Her story "Lean On Me" details a Luka/Carter/Kerry tryst.
and lastly my own stories, also about... you guessed it... Kerry and Carter.
