Took this a week and a half before the other pics on this link. Tez had just seared all the skin off his lips and tongue from the burning hot candied nuts we'd just bought. This was outside the Tate Modern, west of the other shots and it WAS really, really cold that day. That's St. Paul's behind him.
More Bladerunner
I kept expecting one of those flying cars from the movie to come swishing around the corner of that egg-shaped building. The egg is Norman Foster's design, who also did the green egg that is the London Mayor's new office. Mayor Livingston called Foster's designs "glass testicles."
Bird
In England, if you birdwatch, you're a twitcher. This was one of the few that came near me. I was thrilled to find Traf Square not completely swarming with pigeons. I guess the cold weather runs them off? Anyhow, the seagulls were fairly wild, they stuck to the barges and tugboats in the Thames and didn't seem real interested in hassling people for food.
HoHum
Here's boring London Bridge from the recently re-modeled Queen's Walk, which was my destination the day I went stomping around in the mist. Herds of business people jogging along this path on their lunches, nearly got trampled.
Southwark
This artist's loft was in Southwark (say suth-erk). It used to be a really run down, but has been seriously cleaned up and gentrified. Lots of galleries and expensive cafes and even more expensive apartments.
Southwark Cathedral?
This was adjacent to the cathedral ruins, which are pretty old. I think it's just a Victorian-era church which was doing a good business in weddings the day I walked through the courtyard.
