We do what we do because it is the RIGHT thing to do! No animal deserves to live or die behind bars!
Hi! My name is Kerri. I have spent many years working in animal shelters, humane societies, dog warden's facilities, pet sitting businesses and doggy daycares. I have done it all from cleaning the poop to running the front office. I have even driven the on-call emergency response vehicle responding to   some of the worst situations I have ever seen. I have nursed and fostered everything from orphaned day old pups to great danes! I have rescued ferrets and sugar gliders to birds and reptiles. Simply put...I LOVE critters! and I will do what I can to make sure they get to live a happy safe life!
I was constantly receiving calls to take in some poor homeless animal. Sometimes litters of kittens would show up on my porch! Little by little our rescue was formed
.We call ourselves...SECOND-HAND PETS.
It is run by just me and my family! My very supportive husband and daughter. I do not have the official 501 c3 non for profit status as this would cost me anywhere from $800-$1,200 and the help of an attorney to obtain. I have looked into it and hope that it is something I can achieve in the future as it will help with donations and funding. As for now all money comes from my own pocket and any adoption fees we request at the time of an animal's adoption. I do this from my own home. I do not have a facility. These animals are taken into my family and loved and cared for until we can find them a permanent home of there own.We have had a dog stay with us as long as 1 year! We also live in the city and so ordinances and laws prohibit us from doing all we would like to. I currently rescue on a case by case basis or 1 litter at a time. This is to abide by laws and because I do not want to get in over my head . I only take in what I know I can promise and afford to care for until the time of adoption. I see each animal all the way through to their happy ending!
ADOPTION INFO AND PROCEDURE
All animals are seen by our vet, given their vaccinations, de-wormed,and spayed or neutered. They are also treated for any other medical concerns they may have while they are in our care. We CAN NOT guarantee the health or breed or temperment of any animal we adopt out. Most come to us without any history. We rely on the good folks who open their hearts and homes to taking in and caring for these animals for the rest of their lives! It usually costs me between $300-$500 to save an animals life and get them to the point where they can be adopted. My adoption fees are NEVER over $250 so as you can see there is never a profit to be made!!! I do this because It is the right thing to do!
If you would ever like to help out by making a donation of money or food or toys, or sponsoring a spay or neuter or even volunteering to be a foster home, please email me!
I can't do this alone!

Thank You!
