The Makaiju, also known as the "Doom Tree," could be a refference to the Yggdrasil(world tree)of Norse mythology. The Yggdrasil supported the nine worlds of Norse mythology, and the Makaiju supports An and Ail though not in the same way. The Makaiju also knew the story of An and Ail's past as well as the truth about the evil things the two aliens were doing to keep it alive. The Yggdrasil contained an infinite amout of knowledge about the past present and future of the nine worlds. The two trees are also both one of a kind and may be closely viewed with the fabled Tree of Life.

The Elysian fields, also known as Elysium, are a place belonging to the underworld in Roman mythology. They are where individuals who were noble and good in life went after death. Elysium is also found in Greek mthology, but instead of being a part of the underworld it's the westernmost part of the living world. In Sailor Moon, the Elysium Fields are represented by the "Allusion Fields" where Pegasus lives. Pegasus himself could also be alluding to mythology. He may be a reference to the white horses which pulled the chariot of the goddess of the moon Selene. He could also be the white horse that the Messiah of Christianity is said to ride.
