Please do not arrive at the Consulate more than 15
minutes before your scheduled appointment. Applicants who arrive before
their scheduled appointment time will not be admitted early. Every
applicant, including minor children, must have a scheduled appointment in
order to enter the Consulate. Please do NOT bring extra people with you at
the time of your interview. Family members or friends of applicants who do
not have a scheduled appointment will not be allowed to enter the
Consulate gate. |

Security: The following items are not permitted inside
the Consulate: mobile phones, electronic personal digital assistants,
cameras, audio or video recording devices, lap top computers, portable
music players, travel bags, back packs, brief cases, suit cases, cosmetics
(including but not limited to spray perfume/cologne and talcum/baby
powder), bottles of any kind, food items, and any sealed envelopes or
packages. This list is not finite, other items may be prohibited based on
security staff discretion. There is no facility at the Consulate to store
prohibited items. If you bring prohibited items with you, you will have to
dispose of them before entry.Small bags sufficient only to carry papers
required for your interview will be permitted. |

| 1. Passport + One
photograph. The unmounted photo (colour/black and white), on a plain white
background, taken within the last six months, must be full face (facing
the camera directly). Head coverings permissible only on religious
grounds. Reflection around the eyes from spectacles unacceptable. The size
must be 50mm X 50mm with the head centered in the frame. The head
(measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should
measure between 28mm and 35mm from the bottom of the photo.Photographs
with borders will not be accepted. Please write your name & passport
number on the reverse side of your photograph. |
| 2. Completed Visa
application form DS-156 (downloaded back to back on a single sheet),
DS-157 (for all applicants) and DS-158 (for applicants seeking visas in F,
J & M categories) + all supporting documentation. Important things to
remember when filling out application forms: Respond to all the questions.
If you have no response for a question, put "none" or " nil " - do not
draw a line or write "n.a." or " not applicable." If you fail to answer
all the questions, this could create problems with your application, so
remember to have an answer for each question. In Col 24. At what Address
Will You Stay in the U.S ? Please fill either a hotel or home address and
not an office address. |
| 3. Service Charge :
Demand Draft for the amount of Rs. 441 (inclusive of 10.2 pct service tax)
per passport in favour of T.T.Services, Delhi, payable at Delhi
(non-refundable). This amount is to be paid at the TTS counter at the
American Embassy, New Delhi. Write your name, your passport number and the
date of your appointment on the back of the Demand Draft. |
| 4. Visa application fee:
Demand Draft for the amount of Rs. 4600 per passport in favour of American
Embassy, New Delhi (non-refundable). Demand drafts must be drawn on any
nationalized bank or foreign bank with a branch in Delhi. Write your name,
your passport number, the date of your appointment and your address on the
back of the Demand Draft. |
| 5. Visa issuance fee:
Applicants for B, H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas bring a Demand Draft for the
amount of Rs.2300 per passport in favour of American Embassy, New Delhi.
Demand drafts must be drawn on any nationalized bank or foreign bank with
a branch in Delhi. Write your name, your passport number, the date of your
appointment and your address on the back of the Demand Draft. (Note:
Applicants for A, C, D, F, G, J, K, M, N, S, T, and V visas should not
submit this second demand draft). |
| 6. If you are unable to
keep your appointment, cancellation or modification must be done two days
prior to the appointment by using the "Modify/Cancel Appointment" link on
the Home Page. |
| 7.
If your visa application is refused, the TTS Service Charge paid by you at
the Embassy will be valid for two more interview visits. Please produce
the original cash receipt to claim free interview. The receipt is not
transferable and is valid for six months from the issue date. |
| 8. All applicants must
present new application forms and photograph even if they were submitted
earlier with prior applications. |
