THE likes of John Squire and Ian Brown could have enjoyed a much more fruitful career if only they'd bumped into Kermitz Middle Finger a few Years ago.

Kermitz, Comprising John Parry, singer and guitarist, Neil Gibbins, drums, Gareth Butcher, bass, and Brian Robinson, guitar, managed to record an album inside one 10-hour session before Christmas, a genuine achievement in itself when you consider how long some bands take to put new releases together.

Hey up Your …, which boasts 11 tracks, lasts just 23 minutes and includes songs such as Kill McDonalds and Staccato Pigme.

It represents a return to the Punk philosophy of fast, in-your-face and often extremely short songs. And with a name that’s certain to attract attention before they play a note in anger, Kermitz are ready to take the fight to a wider audience.

Eighteen-year-old frontman originally from Liverpool, who completed the Kermitz line-up last year said: "We got some free recording time through the Music Collective. "Most bands were using it to make one or two songs, but we decided to try to make a whole album in that time and its gone down well."

"Our sound is similar to Green Day or Offspring, but we play it more like the Sex Pistols."

Kermitz have been part of a revival of heavy rock and punk music around the are that culminated in the recent all-day festival at the Collective Venue.

John added: "There is more and more interest in the type of music that we make and having played a few gigs around Wigan we want to start looking at playing in Manchester."

Kermitz Middle Finger play at the Boar's head in Leigh this Bank Holiday Monday and will also play at the Haigh Hall Festival next month.
