LIKE Kermitz Middle Finger.And the reason isn't because I'm Miss Piggy. The reason is that apart from maybe smelling of pork Kermitz Middle Finger is a "fuck-you" finger being waved at the establishment. To form this opinion it helps if you listen hard to their songs, (or better still visit their website for the lyrics.) Hope they won't mind me quoting..
Kill McDonalds:
"I wanna kill McDonald's, And then I wanna waste, That Fucking clown Ronald, And then I'll make a paste of his Brains and Stomach and Feed it to his Mum, A Fucking Dead clown Burger, Laced with Caesium."
My Town:
"I Hate the place that I've moved to, You know what I mean cos you probably do too, Everything around here's a mess, All the Bus Stops are a Cider crèche, Mums Pushin' prams, 14 years old, Everyone lives in the same old Mould, Nothing ever happens much, Just hang on for Friday and do your Drugs."
Kermitz sound like dumb punks but just like the Sex Pistols, (e.g. God Save The Queen), and the Buzzcocks (e.g. Fast Cars), they actually have something to say.
What's a shame about some of the people who have seen this band is that they think they're just having fun and messing about, which is true, but there's more to it than that. Like the sex pistols and the Buzzcocks, (and Stiff Little Fingers and the Clash before them), Kermitz have looked at their world and decided that bits of it aren't nice.
Complain
And if you think that complaining about the state of the nation is just whining for the sake of whining then realise that people who complain usually do so because they care about what they see is going wrong. As Rob Fairhurst from Gunpowder Plot said to some hecklers at a recent gig: "Politics is important" so don't forget it. And use your vote!
