Kerinar Darganth, some have said, is an elf of the finest quality.  He knows how to handle himself in any given situation, from an unfortunate experience where he was the made the butt of a small faux pas in the presence of his liege-lord, to a common street thug who had decided to borrow money off of the locals.  The first he handled with great care and skill of words, and the second, with his blade.

Ah yes, you say, this makes him like any other elf in the presence of humans.  In that statement you are correct, but the one who made the above statement was not a human, but Salindre, a powerful sorcerer and soothsayer to the Lord Llewlyn, King to Kerinar.  Oh and did I mention that all involved in the previous experiences were elves?  What, you are asking, makes him so special that he receives praises from the royal court, and escapes unfazed from scuffles with street vermin?  Well, to put it bluntly Kerinar is a member of the elite order of Bladesingers; he is of pure elven stock noble throughout the generations.  And he has made of himself a weapon that most fear to face, and none but the lucky do so twice.

When someone in the human lands says champion they mean a paladin or other great knight of course.  Clad in shimmering armor and bearing a great shining sword, the very symbol of greatness and purity.  In elven lands the vision of a champion is very different.  The elves see one who is not astride a great horse but rather on the ground with the regulars.  Not all are beings built like mountains, some are small and quick.  The one thing that they both have in common though, are shining swords.  The members of the Bladesingers are the epitome of the elven champion, all are endowed through their rigorous training with the ability to see at the level of the commoners, but of course all are expected to live amongst courtiers.  They are unsurpassed in the delights of the noble, writing, dancing, dueling, and of course courting are all skills that all in that great band excel at.  Lithe and graceful, weapons in those hands become an extension of the wielders will.

Now, about Kerinar, he is medium sized, in fact, if you if you compared him to a human of equal size, and even some elves, he would appear small.  And where a human warrior of his size would also be well built, he is not; this gives the appearance that he is even smaller than he really is.  In the past this has caused him some trouble in human lands, where they think that size is the most important factor when choosing a "mark."  His skin has a gold tint to it, not bronzed or tanned, but actual gold, giving him an obvious outlandish look.  His hair is shade of red that seems to flicker as firelight; this wears shoulder length and tied back.  His eyes are dancing points of intelligence that mirror and augment his every mood.  Normally, when he is enjoying himself or in the midst of his dance they sparkle a deep blue, inviting and charming.  Though when anger crosses his features he is a very different sight.  His eyes darken to a dark blue-gray and shine not with inner joy but righteous wrath, pity on those, even friends, that meet his gaze during those times.  The sides of his mouth are usually turned up in at least a half a smile, as if he is contemplating some private joke.

There is nothing remarkable about his dress, though they show his colors, silver and green and gold.  A white shirt that is laced up the front and a dark leather vest, inscribed with silver tracery, coves his torso and shoulders.  His pants are of a deep green and a sash of spun gold is tied about his waist, knotted at the side.  He wears boots of supple doeskin that rise to mid calves before folding back down over themselves.  Diagonally across his chest from lower right to upper left is a baldric of silver chased leather.  This rises to meet the handle of a long curving blade that rises from his left shoulder.  He keeps a small curved dagger tucked in his sash opposite side of his baldric.  A cloak, also of forest green, sits upon his shoulders clasped, just off center, with a silver rose.

Equipment:
The sword that he caries is named Aethelmed.  It is a single edged weapon that can easily be wielded with one or two hands.  The pommel appears as an inverted crown and from it the hilt curves slightly before meeting the crosspiece.  This was beautifully made in the form of a spiraling dragon wrapping it self about the handle and up onto the blade.  The blade is thin and light, with an edge that is sharp enough to cut through a log and then slice the clothes off of someone layer by layer.  It is made of the finest steel and has runes of silver tooled up and down the length.  To anyone not picking it up, it appears a weapon of frippery, something to wear around court and no more.  Aethelmed is of course magical, bearing its own consciousness and it will communicate with the wielder via a limited form of telepathy.  It was the sword of Kerinars ancestors and has been handed down through the family from scion to scion.  He hopes to one day have a son whose hands he can place it in.  Each wielder that the sword has accepted has his rune traced on the blade.  Kerinar's is the latest to be added.
In addition to Aethelmed he carries a few small daggers.  One, complementing his sword, graces his hip, opposite his baldric, the others are plain and are usually just enough to get the job done.  He keeps these secreted about his person in and of course the one in his boot.
When the need arises, he has a shirt of finely linked chain mesh.  A gift from the dwarves, these links are harder than steel but light as cloth.  When forced to, he wears it over his shirt, but under his vest and cloak.  There is no aura of magic to them, just the very fine craftsmanship one expects from its makers.
His baldric has small pockets on the inside for storing small items.  Usually simple survival items, like; thin rope, flint & steel, fishhooks, thread and needles, and of course various files and stones to keep his equipment in top condition.
His cloak, which is usually a deep color of green, can shift in spectrum to match his surroundings, as long as they are simple, such as is in the forest.
The silver clasp was a gift from a lady, and fellow Bladesinger, they met while in training.  Though it was originally a real rose, enchantment has trapped its form so he may always remember her, and his own adventure.

Skills:
In addition to speaking, he can Read/Write following languages:
-Elven: His own, dearest to his heart.  The language is seeped in both History, and Magic
-The common tongue of Humans.  Though becoming stronger, they are only now beginning to create their vast civilizations
-Dwarven:  The language of his allies.  He learned this while living alongside his parents who were elven ambassadors with the dwarves.
-And that of the hated Drow, to fight ones enemies, one must know them.
He can speak, but not read, these following tongues of his enemies.
-Giant kind   -Goblinkin

The Dance:  Kerinar is a master of the Graceful Blade, an intricate style of combat that is so impossibly beautiful that it often appears as though a practitioner is dancing rather than fighting.  The dance takes him through many of the traditional sword forms and some special ones that the elves have created.    Many Bladesingers create their own variations as they progress, and due to his small size, Kerin has created some completely original forms.  While in battle his instincts and training kick in and he is swept up by what he is doing.  On his adventures he is willing to pick up this move and that, and add them to his already great repertoire.

Related to his graceful blade style, Kerinar may attempt the famous Whirl of Many Cuts" at any time; usually performing this attack is a last resort.  The Bladesinger spins himself around, and uses all the skill he can muster to avoid being hit, while devastating surrounding ranks.

As one of the abilities they are most famous for, Bladesingers learn to release magical spells through their weapon, even during the heat of battle.  The spells that Kerinar can prepare in such a way are:
-Flame Blade -Shocking Grasp -Ray of Frost  -Vampiric Touch

He has also picked up a few tricks while adventuring with some others.  A main one has been to learn the weak points of many common enemies of the elves.  He has no qualms about using the knowledge to the best of his abilities.

Of course like all good adventurers he has a few spells that he adds to his normal fighting.
-Prestidigitation:  Cantrips, small spells that create, local, basically harmless effects.
-Burning Hands:  A short burst of flame from his hands, useful for igniting torches and enemies alike.
-Dancing Lights:  Creates a floating light, or lights, of any color or form that he wishes.
-Mend:  A small spell for repairing worn/torn clothing.

His myriad collection of skills are:
-Balance/Climb   -Sense Motive
-Concentration   -Spellcraft
-Bluff/Diplomacy   -Jump/Tumble
-Move Silently/Hide  -Dodge
-Perform(Dance)  -Ride/Mounted Combat
