I was born in Atli Koyu , Olur , Erzurum , Turkey. I graduated from Karadeniz Technical University in 1993, as an honor student. In 1995, the OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) held a nationwide examination in the field of Turkish Language and Literature Teaching; I was ranked first among all candidates and qualified to study abroad. Consequently, I studied one year at ODTU .
I came to the United States in the summer of 1996. After studying five months of English in Indianapolis, I received my MA at The Ohio State University in two years (1997-1998) with Prof. Victoria R. Holbrook. I finished my Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003
My area of interests are Languages and Cultures of Asia and I minored in Linguistics . My Ph.D advisor is Prof. Uli Schamiloglu, a real genious who can speak nearly ten different languages. I will be teaching Contemporary Linguistics at Pamukkale University-Denizli , when I am back home. By the way, I am an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and a faithful supporter of Trabzonspor .
