TUESDAY, 11.14.2006 + introducing ...
listening to: "close to you"; amuro namie (remake of the carpenter's)

after all the whir of excitement and just plain exhaustion, i'm back. not that anyone online would have noticed that i was gone. but i'm back. late wednesday night, jon and i caught a plane to phoenix and united with both of our families to celebrate our wedding. yes. that's right. we got married. i am now officially MRS. JON.

the past week has been a whirlwind of activity. granted, it probably wasn't as chaotic for either jon and i as it was for his mother and sister who were planning and setting up the whole event, but it still was fairly tiring for the both of us. as soon as we arrived at the phoenix airport, early thursday morning, we quickly got some breakfast in our tummies and then went over to the justice court to apply for our marriage license. friday we spent waiting for my parents to arrive and anticipating the nerve-racking "meet the parents" moment. it has to be noted that jon and i have been dating for almost six years ... and i'm having a baby ... and he has never met my parents. he was quickly introduced to my mom a few years back, but not what i would consider a significant meeting of sort. it also didn't help that every day we were up by 6:30 in the morning. and mind you, that's 3:30am in hawaii. lucky for me, i was able to sleep in until 9:00 the morning after the wedding. and that's arizona time. jon wasn't so fortunate, having being woken by the drifting voices of his family. but we were smart enough to take an extra day off when we returned home and were able to sleep in yesterday morning.

the wedding itself? well, i'm going to hold off a bit on that until i receive all the photos that were taken. i had planned to take photos myself, but between getting ready and last minute details, i completely forgot to bring my camera to the church. besides, isn't patience is a virtue?

i will hint that the photo above is a partial of my bouquet. i got it the day of our flight. it's compiled of long-stemmed SILK orchids, ranging from phalaenopsis to dendrobiums to oncidiums with a few stems of fern for greenery. i wrapped the stems in white and cream ribbons that i found at home. i went with silk flowers for a few reasons. one being that it had been a last minute decision. two because it was easy to travel with, i could smush it into our luggage. and three because it'll be a lasting momento of the event.
