a new addition
06.03.2003

jon and i took on another orchid at iris's graduation party. now we have five. our new little addition is a beautiful white phalaenopsis. we haven't named her yet. our other orchids have chinese names and i'm still looking for the correct chinese translation for "beautiful butterfly".

our little "beautiful butterfly"

the first orchid we had was a paphiopedilum named hazy, short for "purple haze". she was named after the jimi hendrix song. unfortunately, she didn't make it. she was one of the most beautifullest orchids i've ever seen.

hazy.

after hazy past away, jon and i got two more orchids, a brassia and another paphiopedilum. we were pleased to find out that there were two new plants growing with the paphiopedilum. we named the brassia, jiao-wan (delicate and gracious) and the paphiopedilum, ting-ting (slim and graceful). the two baby paphiopedilums are rin-rin and ran-ran named after shampoo's twin sisters from the japanese anime, "ranma nibunnoichi".

if the translation for their names are wrong, someone (hint hint, linda or winnie) please let me know. i'd hate to be calling them something that means awful. i got their names and meanings from this site.

jiao-wan.

ting-ting.

there's no photos of rin-rin and ran-ran yet because they're very much just leaves still.

and speaking of new additions, congratulations cyn and m! we're all waiting for your arrival mini-moo!
