fun in the sun

today iris, digga, jon and i went to hapuna. jon and i have been together a little over two years and this may be the first time we have actually gone to the beach together. i think we went once to la'akea with jon's old roommate but that didn't really count because we didn't really go into the water. oh wait! i think we went to four miles with julian and robyn one time. yeah. i think so, because i remember making rice and shoyu chicken. okay, so hapuna is the second time we've gone to the beach together. anyway ...

hapuna was so nice today. crowded, too. jon is *such* a water boy! he tried to teach me how to bodysurf, but i guess i'm not really cut out to be a bodysurfer. then again, i'm not really that much of a water person. i'm one of those people who doesn't really like water being splashed in my face. especially foamy salt water. and i always have a problem with water going up my nose. i do swim, though. and i do like swimming. i just like keeping my head above water.

we stayed there for about three hours. jon and i walked the beach and went to talk to rowland because jon heard that he'd be there. we made plans to eat dinner with them later on.

as soon as we got back into town, we all got ready for dinner and met up with rowland, his girlfriend, and his son. we were planning to go to bianelli's but they were closed. so we ended up going to the kona brew house.

it was everyone's first time there except for jon's. he and dustin have gone there a few times. i think it's usually when they do laundry because the laundromat they go to is right next door. if you go there, i have a word of advice. if you're planning to eat inside, just walk in and find a table. but if you want to eat outside, then you have to wait to be seated. we gave them are name and party size and they gave us an estimate of 30 minutes waiting time, so we waited and waited and waited.

iris and i went inside to see if we could sit at the bar and get a quick drink but the hostess said that there was no room there, but that there was a table in the back. iris and i went to the back, expecting a small two person table, but there was a huge table with enough room to fit nine. we asked the waitress if that the table was open and she said that it was. so we asked if our party could be seated there, and she asked us in return, "you don't want to sit outside?" uh, no. we just want a table so we can eat so we found out that we had been put on the waiting list because she thought that we wanted to sit outside. so there's my advice to you.

jon, rowland, and his girlfriend were the only ones to drink beer, all three ordering the hula hefeweizen. digga, me, and rowland's son tried their vanilla cream soda. iris was the only odd-ball, and tried their orange cream soda.

we even ordered appetizers. iris and digga ordered a side of caeser salad and macnut and pesto bread. rowland ordered a big island mixed greens salad and cheesy garlic bread. jon and i also started off with an order of the cheesy garlic bread.

for our dinner, iris and digga and rowland and his girlfriend both ordered the captain cook pizza. it had mozerella, parmesan sausage, canadian bacon, pepperoni, tomatoes, mushrooms, and black olives all topped on regular tomato sauce. jon and i ordered the pele's own. it was cajun tomato sauce topped with mozzarella, andoullie sausage, rock shrimp, roasted red peppers, roasted onions, and smoked mozzarella.

all in all, the meal was very good. i'm looking forward to going again.
