new year's passed by in a blur for me. jon and i got back into hilo the evening of new year's eve and by new year's day, i was packing for vegas.
jon and i spent the earlier part of new year's eve with my family, eating dinner. my uncle finally made his portuguese bean soup. *yum* and jon and i ate *one* kuromame (black bean) and a very very small piece of kasunoko (salted herring roe). xb my family requires us to ate least eat one of each for good luck. *bleh*
we spent the latter part of the night with dustin, jennel, and most of the bahoof gang. we started the night out at jennel's house with dustin popping his tires in the driveway. we stayed there for midnight and then headed to dustin's house to celebrate a little more with his family.

i'm sad that new year's eve came and left so quickly. i love new year's. it has to be my favorite holiday of the year. the gathering of family. of friends. of delicious food. i get so sentimental about it and i usually always cry at midnight. i guess it's the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming new year. the smell of sulfur has always rocketed me back to the celebration of new year's. the loud cracking of the fireworks. the brilliant colors. i can't help but smile.

well, i hope everyone has enjoyed the passing of 2002 and is eagerly anticipating the blessings of 2003. *hug*
