My Poem

I. Arrival

Im here! Ive arrived!
Finally! At last! Ive dived,
Into deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Customs, thieves, beggars! Im not prepared!
Whered my bag go? Is that a mosquito? Scared,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Safe at last in a bed,
Missing boards and bugs, some place to lay my head,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

II. Rude Awakening

Five in the morning
Time for the preachers warning,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Noise! Preachers, parties, Vandals and clinks,
Doesnt anyone sleep a wink?
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

III. Rude Awakening 2

Off to the market to buy all I dream,
What? NO, I wont BE your queen!
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Obruni, obruni, EtE sEn?
If you dont leave me alone Ill go insane!
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Anywork? Anywork? You have work?
NO! and if you ask again Ill go beserk,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

I really hate learning by rote,
What? Psst, what was that note?
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Ah Africa! Isnt it a shame,
All Im doing is sitting here watching a candle flame,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

IV. Breakfast

Banana, pineapple, orange and mango,
Send my taste buds into a tango,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Fufu, omotuo, banku, yummy!
Ohhh, I think Im sick to my tummy.
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Nutty oil soup, spicy oil soup and oily oil soup,
Too bad it all makes you poop,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

V. Rain, Rain go away

Hey rain, remember all those times I told you to go away?
Come again so I can study today,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Sun Glorious Sun!
Hardly a drop of rain to spoil the fun,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Rain? RAIN! It finally here!
For this weve waited all year!
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Wow home really needs a call,
For the rain has started to fall,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

VI. The Dirt of the Day

Itchy rash and sticky, sweaty grime,
Oh how I long for wintertime,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

I just dusted yesterday,
Dont dare look under the bed today,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Oh dont I long for a washing machine,
So that my grays turn white and my clothes turn clean,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Sweat and dust, oh how I lust for a shower,
What do you mean no water because of the power?
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

VII. End of the Day

Left, then right, then around Ill just take you there,
I am really going to miss Ghanaian care,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Only one more day?
No! Dont make me go! I want to stay,
In deep, mystical, exciting Africa!

Drowning in tears,
Steeped in fears,
Im leaving my
Deep, mystical, exciting Africa.
