Aunt Sue

My Aunt Sue is always there for family, and almost anyone can count as family. When we lost my brother Aunt Sue was on a plane to Ohio in the drop of a hat to come help us out. She keeps track of us even when we don't always answer letters and always gets the cards out on time (unlike her niece who is always late). From her I learned that sometime in your life you will need someone to lean on, and that I can be the leaning post for others in my times of strength.

A very bad and old picture of:
Uncle Bud, Nicole, Aunt Sue, Char and Paul

What Aunt Sue wanted to be when she grew up:

"I have always wanted to be a nurse. I finally got my RN in 1985 after I went back to college, I had dropped out of school in 1968 to get married and then had Paul Brian, Keri's cousin in December 1968. I had Kevin John in 1972 and was a full-time MOM and also a full time medical assistant in an Ob-Gyn office for 10 years. I have also worked as a surgical assistant in the OR and also was the office manager for an Ear, Nose and Throat Dr. for 2 years in the late 70's (boy does that seem like a long time ago). When I met Uncle Bud in 1980 he knew I had always wanted to go back to school so he and I decided to go for it. It was not easy; Paul and Kevin John were teenagers then and into everything. But I did it and graduated at the top of my class. Was elected to the national honor society for junior colleges and was vice president of the student nursing association. I also maintained a 4.0 average. Not to bad for an old lady."

What she is doing now:

"After all that I went to work for Uncle Bud and I have not worked a day in nursing since. I now am a full time baby-sitter for my two grandchildren, Nicole Marie (Keri's clone) and Anthony Paul. Job #2 is I still work full time for Uncle Bud as the office manager for our business (Vehicle repair -- all vehicles, all types of repairs) From the big rigs, to lawn mowers we fix them or we know who does. I do most of my bookkeeping at home and travel to the shop once a month. Thank goodness for fax, computers and telephones. Job #3 is I am a full time homemaker, and I take care of all the rest of the family including keeping up with the elders and the family on the West coast."

Dreams, goals, aspirations and hopes:

"I think I have met my dreams, aspirations but not all my goals. I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished. Some goals still unmet are: To finally finish remodeling our house. It is 90% done; now just the kitchen remains to be updated. #2 To vacation with Uncle Bud more frequently, but that will come with retirement (at 62 for both of us) Bud wants to sail more and I want to see Italy and France."

Favorite things to do:

"Cooking is #1, I absolutely love to cook and entertain. #2 is read good novels, all kinds. Lately I have been on a Nora Roberts kick but I also like Steven King, Sandra Brown, I usually read all the top 10 fiction novels every month or so. Barnes and Noble and I are close friends. Right now I have Vector by Robin waiting until I have a free moment. #3 My computer, I love email, and to surf, I am on at least 2 hours per day, even late at night."

Favorite web sites:

"My favorite web sites are third age, (I am an older woman after all), all the financial sites IE: Vanguard, Janus, Marsico, the Oaks and I use AOL portfolio to keep track of all our investments. Well actually I have 100 on my list of favorites on AOL. I love them all. Tropical fish, shopping, vacation planning, you name it I am interested."
