A DYING CONVERSATION
A stranger asked
"Are you afraid of dying!"
I respond
I look forward to dying
Are you scared of death
I said
If you're scared of death
you are living a life in fear
still no response
I tell him
Dying would be just the conclusion
to this chapter
in my life
and the beginning of the next
Finally a response
He says
The next chapter?!
Yes, I respond
the next chapter.
A chapter
where I'll be living
living in a perfect world.
A perfect world
where there is
no pain
no racism
no hate
A perfect world
where there is only
love
honesty
peace
By dying I would leave
a world behind
that is
careless
diseased
dying
I say to him
I have only three
three hopes
That when I die,
I didn't die in vein.
That I die
in the presence
of those I respect
and love.
That when I do die
that the world knows
that I tried
to make the world
a better place.
Again I ask
ARE YOU SCARED OF DEATH
