this is where it all went down, pretty much. ah, our beloved band room. it had chairs, music stands, sheet music, instruments, trophies... yea, not too exciting. but it did have air conditioning... doesn't that count as a good reason for me to stay in there excessive amounts of time?

if you could truly claim band geekdom, you not only stored your horn here, but your book as well, in your own special locker. it was my place before school, during class, during lunch, and after school - should i be admitting this? here, some friends and i are just being silly as we always are.

human bowling.
band camp is mostly a blur of bad food, bad accommodations and trying to have fun. when i was a freshman, the upperclassmen introcduced us all to Camp Ceasar's (sic) signature sport. (the hills were good for something.) in this picture, note the 3 frightened-looking girls in the lower right-hand corner. they were the pins, and the guys rolling on the ground were the bowling balls, of sorts. the great tradition has left the band with the members of the old regime, but certain freshmen will never be the same.

i played flute and piccolo, of course, and my section was slightly crazy, a lot of fun, and by far the best section in the band. ;) at band camp, pete thompson rejoined our section as a teacher this time, and i'm afraid he may have gotten more than he bargained for.
|
wow, pete did actually get a normal picture at last, at band camp my senior year. this picture was taken at the infamous band camp dance, held every year to torture non-dancers like myself. our section looks pretty damned good, if i do say so myself.

<--- my junior year piccolo section, including lindsey lou, me, and annette welty, my favorite flute friend. ;)
the senior sax section... missy and my buddies TW and lindsay. ------>

craig loves sax. subtitle: "don't switch to tuba." no matter how much mr. vingle wants you to.
|
this is tommy. he was in charge of the entire band. no, i'm really not kidding. he was band commander.
|
we were always quite fashionable, in and out of uniform... here, annette, alicia, lindsey and i model our excellent footwear during a trip to disney world.
|
in this picture, craig lets me model perhaps the best fashion in the band... the tuba beret. i'm so jealous that he got to wear this while i had the stupid plume.
