There are more than 250 orchid species identified so far in 75 genera in the state of Kerala Though the number of beautiful orchids of commercial importance are less, many important orchid genera are represented including enedemic species like Paphiopedilum drury of Agastya Hills There are terrestrial orchids,epiphytes and lithophytes. Not the forest trees alone,but the road side trees are also some times seen with hundreds of orchids in them. |
