Self-defeating
People!
The strike is supposed to be called by the Unions for
the welfare of the people - especially the downtrodden
and poor. In Kerala all the political parties except BJP
(which doesn't have any seats) and probably Kerala
Congress factions, can be classified leftist. All talk
about and cry for poor people, all the time. According to
the news reports the strike is going to affect the SSLC
examinations. To be specfific, the ordinary schools! A
majority of the rich children today are in special
private English Medium schools. They will not be
affected. Even if the school is closed for a while most
of them have enough facilities at home (books and even
internet) to carry on the studies. Deepika news follows:

This means that strike has a devastating effect on the
poor children whose only hope is to get past the SSLC
examination on time. Usually in Kerala schools, February
is an important time to finish lessons ahead of the
examinations in March. Having called the strike in
February, it is obvious that the NGO organizations don't
care about the welfare of the common man at all.
People are fools too!
The ordinary man is a fool today in Kerala. He doesn't
have the backbone to stand up and defeat these
opportunists in the election. Time and again they have
votes for third class people in every election. People
should ask every MLA and MLA candidate to make their
views on the strike and vote accordingly in the next
election crossing the party lines. This is the only way
they can send a message to the future strikes.
Backboneless Intellectuals!
Responses from abroad (Gulf, USA, Europe) published in
several internet editions (Kerala Kaumudi opinion,
Deepika poll etc) convincingly show that all Malayalees
abroad are understandably against the strike.
See Kaumudi
Letters from Abroad
Many in Gulf are working 10-12 hours in appauling heat
and conditions. Many have gone abroad only because they
could not get a job at home. In Kerala one doesn't comes
across a species called "Intellectuals" today.
Those posing as intellectuals are all pseudo. So
understandably there is no public outcry from any
"intellectual" against the strike. They are all
afraid of political parties and employee organizations.
An open comment against the trike may affect a future
award or some privilege!!!
While the response from abroad had been of great
concern for the school children, in Kerala itself, the
children of the striking teachers and employees did their
own protest - which appeared like a 'tivoli celebration'
rather than the voices of the suffering children!

Since we wrote this, we have
come across an article by K.Venu (leftist intellectual,
but against CPM) in Malayalam Varika. Mr Venu confirms
what we have written about rich chlidren being
shamelessly sent to English Medium private schools, even
by the teachers who are on strike!
