Kerala State Electricity Board is one of the biggest white elephants in the state. Along with State Transport, KSEB ranks top among the most inefficient, trade-union and politics-driven and corrupt state Govt bodies.

KSEB in the grip of severe financial crisis

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is in the grip of a severe financial crisis and salary payments to the employees will be delayed by more than two weeks from next month onwards. This was disclosed by Power Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan here yesterday at a joint conference of KSEB officers and trade unions. Minister said that while government is taking every effort to pay this month's salary.

One cannot take Antony's words at face value. This is the genteleman who opposed Indira Gandhi when it didn't matter to him,left Congress, then became Kerala CM with CPM's support in the 80s, and realizing that Congress is still strong came back to Congress.

Well, T.M.Jacob wants all Kerala Congress factions to unite. How many factions are there - four or five or more?

The party was formed some time in 1964 with the support of vested interets in Tracancore area resulting in the defat of Congress in the 1965 Kerala Assembly Election. Standing alone Congress bagged some 38 seats but Kerala Cong. had 24 seats in the Travancore belt.The assembly was dissolved. If Kerala Cong had n't split the anti-Marxist votes Cong would have won more seats and if Kerala Cong hadn't been formed Congress would have won majority too. Such splitting polices paved the way for the "Sapthakakshi Munnani" of EMS in 1967 which was the beginning of worthless United Front Goverments in Kerala. TM Jacob was probably in the school when all this happened.

Jacob recalls the support he got from Chakkeri AhmedKutty. But has Mr Jacob recirpocated this by supporting youngsters in Kerala Cong? No!!! Mr Jacob himself been MLA for 25 years non-stop, so too KM Mani, Balaksrishna Pillai etc etc.

Language in Place and Out of Place!

When it is a World Film Festival and when there is a foreign guest, it is alright to speak English. Bringing in language issue in place and out of place seem to be norm in Kerala today. There are people who speak in broken English in meetings where there are only Keralites sitting! Here the forum was inaugurated by a German.

On the other hand, if all the people in the audience are Keralites, then the speakers should have used Malayalam mainly. Anyway language policy in Kerala is a hopeless affair. One can go on writing pages and pages on this.

Any language is acceptable if it is used for communication, and any language becomes unaccpetable if it is used solely for domination and exploitation.
