A lot of news about arrests have been there... The papers were leaked from the press in Madras. Several people were involved in selling and buying the papers. And all this has been going on for years!! Some private schools have been getting the questions all these years. What they have been doing was to release the paper just one hour before the exams and ask the students to prepare for these questions. This way the concerned schools avoided an 'all-out' leakage.

Now it is almost 100% certain that the papers of the exams which are already over too have been leaked. But there won't be any re-exams on these; understandable considering the impracticalities of the situation.

After the rule of third class governments for 4 decades the state has gone to DOGS. UDF and LDF- CPM, Congress and all the eerkily parties surrounding them, and the foolish public wjo elect these rowdies in every election too are responsible for the state of affairs.

All the culprits will escape now with the help of able lawyers. As usual prosecution will be bought with money, liquor and even women!

All the remaining SSLC exams are postponed and will be held during 15-19 April. It has been now confirmed that at leats 4 schools had opened the Geography II paper (Cannanore, Calicut, Pathanathitta and Quilon). About 10 people have been suspended.

Meanwhile LDF had done (as usual) some stunts in the Assembly - walking out - boycotting etc. Organizations like SFI and CPM had been lamenting the plight of the SSLC students. But why shedding crocodile tears now? The same organizations didn't care a damn in 2002 when the schools were closed for one month prior to the SSLC exams because of NGO/Teachers strike?

Now most of the rich students are not taking SSLC! They are all enrolled safely in the plus-2 , CBSE syllabus etc. Once again the political system, political parties - UDF, LDF, BJP included - are cheating people.

What has happened is natural consequence of the utterky hopless rule of "Aikyamunnani politics" for the last 3 decades and more. We do not think the current Education Minister is singularly responsibile for this debacle. And calling for his resignation will not solve anything. If at all anything the whole Cabinet should resign. Or still better, the whole Assembly should be dissolved and the state should be put under the direct rule of the President or even the MILITARY!

Tomorrow's SSLC exam postponed 5:30 pm IST
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tomorrow's SSLC exam has been postponed. The geography exam to be held tomorrow in the old and new schemes has been postponed. The exam has been postponed due to widespread complaints that some question papers have been leaked.

Kerala Kaumudi daily had reported today that geography question paper to be held tomorrow has also been leaked. Earlier complaints had received that some mobile phones received some questions. The postponement was announced by the public education director.

Comments:

SSLC examination is the biggest examination in terms of its coverage and the number of participants. This is the first official examination everyone has to pass before even contemplating on job or further studies. Each village and each high school is affected. This is the MAIN EVENT!

But for quite some time we don't have a government. The so called government is occupied with petty party fights and rivalries. The rest of the time is devoted to inaugurations and public ceremonies. The rule of law has been missing for a long time. Whether UDF or LDF there is no difference.

In a country where anything can be bought if you have money, it is not surprising to see that the question paper is leaked. It has leaked before. Someone is trying to make some extra cash.

For tens of thousands of students, all the preparations had been in vain. They have to wait now. New question paper has to be set and distributed.

A couple of years ago there was a month long strike just prior to the SSLC Exam. This year there had been 'hartals' and 'party rallies' during the Exam Week. Children and the public seem to be used to this 'war like' situation in the state!

A pathetic state of affairs, we have reached 57 years after independence!

Rajesh managed to get the Social Studies Paper II on the night of 20th (The exam was to be held on 21st!). Meanwhile one school in Cannanore and two schools in Pathanamthitta have this question papers bundles already opened. All the schools claim that they had opened the paper by mitake while opening the Paper I! How long and where esle this has been going on?

Kerala Kaumudi's decision not to publish the question paper and make it a sensation was a decisioon appreciated by everyone in Kerala. Mathrubhumi in its editorial on 22.3.2004 did not have any hesitation in congratulating Kaumudi's Editorial Board. Subsequently the same Editorial was published in Kerala Kaumudi on 23.3.2004.
