English Medium Schooling is a big business in Kerala. Learning a language should not be a big problem. But that has been converted to a problem now and parents are forced to send their chlidren to the so-called English Medium Schools. Except a 10% , the rets of these schools are hopeless even in English teaching.

Here Asianet reported a case from Apostolic Carmel Holy Trinity Convent School, Valappu Ochanthuruthu where an LP level child was beaten with big sticks on his back and on the inside of the legs. The beating was carried out systematically by one of the "sisters" teaching there. The school authorities were also angry when Asianet went there to investigate.

The headmistress Sister Annie David said that the school expressed 'sorry' and explained that the 'beating' was done with good intentions! The idea was to improve the boy's mathematics! (What a nice way to improve one's maths!) Asianet also learned that the involved sister has been transferred to another school!
