Info:
1999 tv show + direct to video movie (I think it was direct to video)
The predecessor to Vanny Knights
Short Rant:
In short, this is what Vanny Knights should have been. You have a heroine, a likable heroine, and she transforms and fights evil. Along the way you have nice little mini stories involving her, and her friends and family that are either amusing or dramatic and moving.
Story:
School girl finds out one
day that her father is the masked hero Jin Kamen Pharaon. Thus leading
to a chain of events in which she must embrace her destiny to become Kamen
Tenshi Rosetta.
Important People:
Jin Asuka
/ Kamen Tenshi Rosetta (Masked Angel Rosetta): Played by Yoshii Rei She's not model pretty, but she's really cute. Cute voice, cute behaviorisms, etc. Jin Asuka is a very likeable character. She just wants to live a normal school girl's life, but when the need comes, she takes our her Anhk-Cross and uses the power from the ancient god Horus to transform into Masked Angel Rosetta. And Rosetta can fight and fight well. Many people agree that Rosetta is one of the best heroine shows ever made. |
|
Jin Kenichiro
/ Jin Kamen Pharaon (Masked God Pharaon): This hero is no over the top rash teenager, in fact, he's a middle aged salary man and a father! Jin Kenichiro, the lovable father of the heroine. The relationship between him and Asuka is believable and touching at times. As a Father
he wants to protect his daughter, but at the same time, she is burdened
by the same destiny as he is and must fight together to stop the enemy
of humanity.

Mother = Jin Atsuko - House wife, but she's funny
Friends = Natsumi and Midori. Heh, Summer Beauty and Green? Others = Workers, enemies, and third tier characters actually reappear. Wow! |
No pic |
Bad:
Well, there's some fight
scenes that are a bit too fake, but that's balanced by some really cool
fight scenes. Anyway, this is forgivable if you think about how hard
it is to create really cool and believable fight scenes. I think
the great story/characters makes up for the fighting
Following the corny aspect, there are times where you feel like you're watching a b movie. Like the Rosetta movie really feels like a low budget horror movie at times.
Finally, there's a bit of nudity/sexual content in the movie. The tv series is nudity free, but it's still violent and stuff, so this show is absolutely not for kids
Good:
The Father-daughter relationship
in hero stories isn't seen much, so I thought this was kind of interesting.
The daughter is cute and funny, the Father is noble and heroic. Their
transformed forms are really cool and stylish looking.
Bonus:
No bonus footage for Discs 1-2. On Disc 3 you get the Cool Girl
music video sung by Yoshii Rei (Jin Asuka). On the Rosetta Movie
disc I included the Rosetta Memorial footage which showed clips of Rosetta
appearing live on stage, in a wrestling ring, clips of Yoshii Rei and Yoshikawa
Mae singing Kamen Tenshi Rosetta, and finally some behind the scenes footage.
