How to install Items and Spells

Hello! I've had a couple of emails concerning the lack of information on my site as to how to install my items, so here is the info you need!

Okay! The first thing you have to do is go to www.TeamBG.com and go to the "Downloads for Developers" link. Next, scroll down until you find the link to the "Infinity Engine Editor Pro (IEEP) v1.0.1 Build 10". This is the program I use for this stuff. Download the program (1.4 megs) and install it. NOTE: This program requires the Visual Basic 5 and Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries, which are available for download at TeamBG.com, in the table at the very top of the Downloads page.

Once it's installed, you're ready to import! First off I should mention that it is pretty safe to extract ALL the zip files for items and spells that you get from here into your Overrides folder. This way you don't have to worry about placing things in different folders. All the files in the zips actually HAVE to be put in the overrdies folder for the items/spells to work properly anyway... that is, all the files except for any .TBG files.

Here is a brief explanation of a .TBG file. .TBG files are what we editors use to import item/spell text to your game. Without .TBG files (if we just gave you the .ITM file for items and the .SPL files for spells) the mentioned items and spells WOULD function in the game, but wherever there is usually text would be blank. There would be no name, no description, no nothing. .TBG files store the .ITM/.SPL files AS WELL as their corresponding text.

To get the item/spell into the game, open up the IEEP. A window will pop up with numerous options. First, and most importantly, make sure that you choose the Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn radio button. (unless of course the item you have downloaded was shown as being for IWD or BG1). I say pick the BG2 button because all items on this site are for BG2. Once that is done, click the button to take you to the program for what you want to import (Item Maker if you want to import an item, Spell Maker if you want to import a spell).

It's all pretty easy from here! Once you're in to the corresponding program, remember where you put the spell or item .TBG file (probably in your Overrides). Now, go to File, and then Import TBG Item File, or Import TBG Spell File, whatever the case may be. You will now be able to browse for your .TBG file. Once you have selected it, click open, follow the instructions, and you're done!

If you have any further problems after this, please don't hesitate to contact me, Daelomin, and I will try to help you out.

Good luck and, as always, have fun!
