Southbound Amtrak, Kentucky Cardinal, (An oxymoron to Basketball Fans) arrives at the new station in Jeffersonville. Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, April 2000.
Amtrak has it's sites set on Louisville, seen in the distance. Plans are for the Kentucky Cardinal to be extended into downtown Louisville at the old Union Station.
A Soo Line northbound rumbles through New Albany Indiana, with CP Rail power evident.
A CSX train lead by a solid set of UP power waits in the siding, as the Soo Line train heads north over the old Monon. Ten years ago, there was only two trains a day and CSX was planning on abandoning the route. However traffic exploded, and CSX needed another way into Louisville. The Monon Lives!
