| Quatre: Hi everone! This is Quatre! Hooray!! Chap Five is up! I'm happy too! Trowa: Duo is still up in his room. He's on a guilt trip about how he made Kitty~chan go nutsy on us, so I assume that he's drowning himself in pixie stix up there. Heero: *sitting with a sleeping Kitty~chan in his lap* Quatre: Yes, we did finally get her to sleep. It wasn't easy, but she ran around in circles with a diameter of about a foot for about an hour before she started bouncing in that circle for another hour, then suddenly collapsed and she's been asleep since. That was yesterday. Kitty~chan: *sleeps* NO!!! DROP THE SINK!!! *sleeps* Wufei: *is asleep on the other couch* Quatre: He's been asleep since he passed out earlier. Anyway, I guess we have to do the disclaimer to this chapter Trowa. Trowa: I guess. Quatre: Kitty~chan doesn't own all of the characters in this story, all of the Gundam Wing characters in this story are property of Sunrise Corp. Trowa: If you didn't get the gist of that before now, there is no hope for you. Quarte: *Applauds* That was sooo good! We should have our own tv show! Heero: We do. Trowa: Oh. Oh well. Read story. |

| Chapter Five Truth Revealed |
|||||||||||||||
| Heero awoke early the next morning in Relenas bed. Relena herself was sitting at her desk, doing some work. He sat up and immediately asked the question that was pounding in his head. Relena! Are you okay? Relena smiled as she saw he was awake. Heero! Youre awake! You were asleep for a good five hours. Yes Im fine. Wufei seemed more focused on killing you than on killing me. Are you okay? Yeah. I feel fine. Heero swung his legs over the side of the bed and looked at the carpet. Though what was on his mind was far from the floor dcor. Wufei. What went on? Whats wrong with you? I told Milliardo about last night. Relenas voice pulled him from his reverie. And? Well, he flipped, naturally. He went looking for Wufei. He never found him. All of the other former pilots are missing. She said solemnly. Did he cuss me out as usual? Even though I was unconscious? Heero looked at her. No. He just muttered some stuff under his breath and left. He respected the fact that you were injured trying to save me. Relena smiled morbidly. Heero nodded. We are going to find out who is doing this. I promise you that much. He will pay for this. The rest of the day went without event. Relena stayed in her room all day, under order of her brother. Meals were brought up to her, and Heero stayed on constant guard. All were fearing what would happen that night. However, night must fall. And fall it did. At dark, Relena sat awake in her bed. Still refusing to believe that the other former Gundam Pilots had betrayed her. Heero was wearing his flannel shirt, buttoned about three-quarters of the way up, long jeans, and his yellow sneakers. He stood at the balcony window, arms crossed, eyes narrowed at any sign of trouble. Relena looked over at Heero. Even when he was facing away from her, she could still feel the intensity of the glare he was throwing out the window. He seemed so determined. He seemed so dedicated to protecting her. Was he really this dedicated to his job? Or was it possible that he could have feelings for her? If so, were they nearly as intense as the ones she had for him? You could never tell with Heero Yuy. He was raised to bury his emotions. And if he possibly did feel anything, to suppress it and give no hint whatsoever of the emotion. Her eyes widened as Heero uttered a Huh?, and took up a defensive stance. Heero watched in anxiety as about ten shadows like the ones that had been attacking appeared on the balcony. He backed up as the windows burst open, and the four former gundam pilots jumped in. They were wearing the black attire, minus the masks. All four of their faces were devoid of any emotion at all. Six more shadows stood on the balcony still. The one in the middle wore a golden necklace around his neck, and Heero guessed that he was the ringleader. Who are you?! What do you want!!?? Heero yelled. Relena guessed it was the loudest she had ever heard him speak. The one with the necklace laughed and removed his hood. A mass of black hair cascaded down his shoulders, reaching to about the small of his back. Two steely gray eyes bored into Heero and he realized who it was. I-I-I-Its you! Shakaju Masaki!! But how?! Shakaju laughed. You are just too funny, Yuy! So dramatic! Doing your best to futily and pointlessly protect Miss Relena Peacecraft. Arent you cute? Heero recognized his voice as the one that had been speaking through the five shadow intruders. Heero growled dangerously. Youre going to pay for what youve done, you monster. Shakaju gave a superior laugh. Get im. He commanded. The four gundam pilots rushed at Heero. His mind raced at what he should do. He couldnt hurt them! They had done so much for him in the past. WAIT! Its Shakaju that theyve been working for! The mind control star! Maybe he used the last bunch of years to create working stars, then used it on them! That means I just need to trash the stars on their chests! Heero moved aside just in time to avoid a punch from Duo, then thrust his right fist forward and punched Wufei in the chest. Wufei groaned and held his torso, before falling to the floor. Heero moved him over to the corner, avoiding a kick from Trowa in the process. He then ran up to Quatre and landed a side kick to his chest. Quatre flew over, hit the wall, then landed right next to Wufei. Heero ran around, and grabbed Duo by the shoulders before slamming his chest down on his knee. Duo groaned and passed out. Heero moved him over to the corner along with the other two. He then went after Trowa. He ran up close enough, then pulled the pilot of Heavyarms into a tight headlock before landing a powerful punch to his chest. He moved Trowa over to the corner, then stood and turned to Shakaju, panting. Shakaju laughed good-naturedly. Well done, Yuy! Well done! Now, can you deal with these guys? He pointed at Heero and the five other shadows stepped foreward. Heero smirked slightly and took up a stance. The other four Gundam Pilots couldnt beat me! What makes you think that these less experienced lackeys can? he asked. Well, I wasnt planning on five beating you. I knew you would easily have beaten five. So I brought insurance. Shakaju snapped his fingers and about ten other shadows appeared on the balcony. They all jumped into the room and stepped foreward. Heero backed up about ten steps, finally reaching where the bed was. He put his hand behind his back, offering it to the girl behind him. Relena stood and took his offered hand. He led her over to nearby corner, keeping himself between the shadows and Relena He backed up trapping her between him and the walls. She sank to the floor as the shadows continued to approach. Finally, the one in front raised its leg to kick. Heero turned around and dropped down so he was completely covering Relena with his body. In an instant, a rain of kicks was unleashed on his back. He hardly winced at all as Relena looked fearfully up at his face. Eventually, the pain became serious as bruises were formed, then covered once again in kicks. Heero squeezed his eyes shut as more and more pain seemed to come. Relenas eyes clouded over with worry as she watched the increasingly painful expression grow on the mans face. Heero! she cried quietly. Heero opened one pain filled eye and looked at her. He took his arms off of the wall, supporting his weight and the weight of the kicks with his head, which was against the wall, and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her close to his body. She put her hands up on his chest, receiving his hug. She could feel how his body lurched foreward as each kick landed on his already bruised back. She pressed herself closer to him in an effort to comfort him. Suddenly, the lurching of his body stopped. He was completely still. He turned around, still pressing Relena to the wall to look at what was going on. Shakaju had ordered them to stop. He stepped into the center of the shadows and glared down at Heero. Heero had masked the throbbing of his injured back and stared defiantly at the man. Do you surrender yet? he asked snidely. Heero glanced behind him and saw that the other gundam pilots had regained consciousness. They were beginning to stand up and take in their surroundings. He gave them a stay-where-you-are glare before turning back to Shakaju. He looked at him in disgust before growling deeply. Baka yarou. He muttered. Shakaju snorted. I take that as a no. Continue. he waved his hand and Heero turned around just in time to receive another rain of kicks. Relena looked up at Heero once more. She glanced under his arm just in time to see Wufei slipping soundlessly out of the room. Her hopes rose as soon as he was out of sight. He was probably going to get Sally, Une, Lucrezia and Milliardo. Lucrezia was a woman that had married Milliardo. She was tall and had blue hair spiked to cover her right eye. Her eyes were such a deep blue, they were almost violet. Relena once again pressed herself against Heeros chest in an attempt to comfort him from the rain of pain. Suddenly, Heeros arms were pulled from around her, and jerked behind his back by two shadows. He was jerked to his feet as another two shadows grabbed Relena. One put her in a headlock and pressed a gun to her temple. He yelled at the three remaining gundam pilots. No one move! Stay where you are! he commanded. That was when Wufei returned with Milliardo, Lucrezia, Une and Sally. They all stopped in their tracks when they saw Relena. Relena! Milliardo called. His eyes scanned the room for her faithful bodyguard and gasped when he saw that he too was being held captive. Heero jerked back and forth, trying to rid his arms of the two shadows that were holding him. He was forced to his knees as he looked up at Relena. Relena tried her best to break free as she saw a man walk up with a brown medicine bottle. He soaked a white rag with its contents, then folded it a few times. What do you want with me??? she yelled. Shakaju took the rag from the man and approached Heero from behind. He turned and gave her a surprised look. You? Who ever said we wanted you? he asked, amused. Relenas eyes widened, as did the eyes of Milliardo, Lucrezia, Sally, Une and the gundam pilots. Heero didnt seem to be hearing any of this. He was still trying his best to get free. Shakaju pressed the white cloth to Heeros mouth and nose. Heero inhaled as the chloroform filled his lungs and he was instantly asleep. He dropped limply to the floor as the two shadows released him. Lets go! Shakaju shouted. One of the shadows approached him and whispered in his ear. Someone with his strength will stay asleep for a less amount of time. We will risk him waking up before we get to the base. Hes too strong for us to control. We will risk losing him. He whispered. Well, then, lets do it here. We have the supplies, and it will be interesting to do this in front of all of his friends! Shakaju then pointed to the unconscious Heero. A shadow rolled him over onto his back and brought out a pair of scissors. Relena looked at them curiously. Were they going to kill him with a pair of scissors? Her eyes widened as they proceeded to cut his shirt off. A man brought out a flesh colored star and attached it to his bare chest. A few wires were then attached to other parts of his chest. A small black piece was hung around his ear, along with a microphone for speaking into. You were after Heero this entire time, werent you?! Relena shouted. Shakaju smiled snidely. You are astonishingly perceptive. Milliardo spoke next. But what could you want with her bodyguard?! Did you forget that he is the strongest and best soldier in the world or the colonies? Shakaju asked smartly. What does that have to with anything? Duo asked stupidly. Well, if youll all remember, hes the only one in the world who can pilot Zero One. Am I correct in saying so? he asked, motioning for another shadow to come over. So? What in the world are you getting at, Baka? Zero One was destroyed, just like all the other gundams. Wufei asked. Ah-HA! Shakaju shouted. Thats where youre wrong. Zero One was never fully destroyed. Trowa cocked his head slightly. What? But we saw- You saw many small explosions go on inside the Wing Zero, that, from far away, looked like one big one. Shakaju cut him off. As you know, Heero Yuy made it out of there alive. The suit dropped out of the air and hit the ground, but it was still in one piece. Thats how Heero was able to make it to Marrimeas base, Relena. Thats why he was so injured and weak when he shot that tranquilizer dart at Marrimea. And youve rebuilt the Gundam from the main parts that youve collected. Une guessed. Good job! The suit wasnt self-destructed, so a bunch of the important parts remained intact. Shakaju took two large cuffs from the person, and clamped them onto Heeros wrists. But what would you know about rebuilding mobile suits? Quatre wondered, anger in his voice. Come on, Winner. I was one of the workers who helped invent the Tauros mobile doll model! I know suits very well. The Tallgeese remained intact as well. So I used it as a blueprint and rebuilt the suit. Shakaju explained. How do you expect those things to work?! I remember seeing the blueprints for those stars! That unique substance must carry the waves emitted from the star! You didnt get that stuff into Yuy! Milliardo yelled. Oh, but I did. Didnt I, Miss Relena? Shakaju laughed lightly, looking at the Vice Foreign Minister. Relena wracked her brain. What was he talking about? He thinks that I know what hes talking about. But- wait!! An image flashed into her mind. Heero sat in the armchair of his apartment. So? Relena asked, referring to the food and water test results. We were right. There is quite a bit of poison in everything. Everything, that is except for the water from the faucet. Which is not surprising. But Nurotoxin is not the only thing in there. There is also an unidentifiable substance in there as well. Heero answered drowsily. So do you still think its Trowa? she wondered. The nurotoxin that Trowa put in Heeros food and water! There was another substance in there, but Heero couldnt identify it! That was the unidentifiable substance! Relena yelled. Great job Miss Relena! Shakaju clapped his hands before taking a remote control from one of the shadows. Whats that? Duo snorted. Oh, this? Shakaju held up the remote. This is the device that will activate the star. Now, this may be difficult. Depending on how strong his will is. Relena tried to distract him from what he was doing by asking him more questions. But if you wanted to capture Heero alive, then why did it seem as if the four Gundam pilots wanted to kill him? Oh, that was just to throw you off. They never wouldve actually hurt him badly. He answered, continuing to fiddle with the buttons on the remote. Hmmm I have a feeling that this is going to be hard. The star is activated, but he hasnt even stirred. And his brain waves havent altered in the least. Lets increase the power, shall we? Shakaju lifted a lever up a bit and the star glowed. Heero winced in his sleep a bit, but other than that, there wasnt a response. Relena wasnt going to give up on distracting the man. Not yet. But why wouldnt you train one of your own men to try and pilot the Gundam Zero One instead of going through all of this trouble just to capture Heero? Well, despite how much effort was put into this capture, this was nothing compared to what it wouldve taken to train a person to pilot that gundam. Besides that, no one knows what a pilot needs to go through in order to remain sane and pilot that thing for a long amount of time. Man! This guys got to go sooner or later, but hes showing no signs as of yet. Shakaju pushed the lever farther, and Heeros expression worsened. He still didnt look like he was in too much pain. I can pilot the Zero One, sort of. Why didnt you use me to pilot the gundam instead of using me to get at Heero? Quatre asked. You may be able to pilot the gundam, but not well enough for me to control you. You wouldnt be able to withstand the Wing Zeros manipulative abilities for more than about two hours. Shakaju pushed the lever a bit more, reaching the three-quarters point. Heero groaned a bit as his expression worsened once more. Relena tried one more question. What are those cuffs for? Theyre not even connected to each other. Those are another form of the star. Its a bit of insurance. It also sends out the waves to the brain. Its not nearly as powerful as the stars, but its back up in case the star were to break or fall off. It would keep the person under control until we replaced the star. Shakaju pushed the lever up all the way, causing Heero to begin yelling. His hands flew to his head as he writhed around on the floor. Every once in a while, uttering a no. or stop. You could tell he was now conscious, just fighting for control of his mind as the brain waves began to falter. Ahh. Here we are. Now we just need to continue on this power level, and hell be ours. Shakaju did nothing more with the remote for the time being and let his hand fall to his side. Relena looked over at the man that had captured her heart so many years before. For the entire time she had known him, she had never seen him in too much pain. She had never seen him like this before. She began to fight against the arm that held her neck. Heero! Heero! Dont give up! Shakaju is trying to take control of your mind! Youre stronger than him Heero! Dont let him beat you! Shut up! Shakaju shouted at her. He turned back to watching the former gundam pilot writhe around on the carpeted floor of the room. Heero screamed as he fought for control. He held his head tightly and rolled a bit, trying his best to listen to Relenas voice. But, slowly the pounding of the star in his head began to overtake him. The pounding got louder, louder, louder. Darkness was all he could see, and eventually, Relenas voice no longer reached his ears. All of the spectators held their breath as Heero stopped moving altogether. His hands dropped to his sides, and his expression remained pained but it relaxed a bit, and he no longer made a sound. He looked as if he had died. Relena stared at him with breath baited. Tears threatened to pour from her eyes as she looked at the man lying lifelessly on the floor. Heero. Heero! she cried quietly before shutting her eyes. Please dont give up, Heero! Milliardo looked at his sister. Her infatuation with the man was going to get her killed if Shakaju succeeded in controlling him. And then he would be forced to kill Heero. Shakaju approached the completely still and silent Heero and knelt beside him. He closely examined Heeros face and then motioned for the shadow holding Relena to come over. The man walked over, forcing Relena to come along, and stood next to him. Shakaju moved over a bit. Now to test and see if hes mine yet. He pointed at Heero and the shadow positioned Relena so that she was in plain sight if Heero were to open his eyes. Shakaju gripped the mans shoulder and shook him back and forth trying to wake him up. Heero! Heero! Wake up, Heero! Heeros eyes opened ever so slowly. Relena gasped at what they looked like. They had turned from gorgious prussian blue to cold icy blue. They had a hypnotized look to them, but they didnt look as dead as the other gundam pilots had. Do you know this girl? Shakaju asked from beside her. Heero studied her face. He seemed to be thinking. Relena begged him, in her mind, to remember her. He had to! They had been through so much the past few days! He had to remember all that! Shakaju spoke again, getting impatient. Tell me! Do you know her!? Heero stayed quiet for a moment before finally reaching up and putting his weak hand to the side of her face. R-Relena. He muttered, exhausted. Relena broke out into a huge smile. He did remember her! Shakaju gasped from beside her. Heeros head flew to the side as Shakaju slapped him as hard as he could. The shadow holding Relena stood up and took her away. Heero looked on as he stood, still holding the gun to her temple. He did his best to get up, which was only rolling onto his stomach and reaching for her. Relena! Heero! Dont let him beat you! Youre stronger than him! Please Heero! she shouted. Shakaju walked up and roughly shoved Heero onto his back once again. Heero didnt even make an attempt to retaliate. It seemed as if he was confused about all but one thing; he had to help Relena. You are going to work for me, no matter what the cost! he shouted as he landed a light punch to Heeros cheek. Heeros head swirled as the punch triggered another horrible headache. He groaned and finally, his world was plunged into darkness. He lay limply, once again it looked as if he were dead. Shakaju yelled to a shadow. You! Activate the cuffs! We need more power to destroy his will! Activate now! Yes sir! the cuffs on Heeros wrists glowed a light blue light and Heero once again began yelling. He put his hands to his head and writhed around. After about five minutes of fighting, Heero began to give up. He was losing strength and he couldnt keep it up much longer. He would hold onto Relenas voice as long as he could. Relena was still trying to talk to Heero. Her voice offered some comfort, but even it wasnt enough to stop the power of the cuffs. Finally, Heero was falling, falling, falling, into an endless pit of darkness. He could no longer hear Relenas voice, as everything was gone. Everything was quiet. He couldnt even hear the voice anymore. Wait. Whos voice? Heeros body again stopped moving and he was once again silent and still. Relena saw this and tears again threatened to spill from her eyes. Heero! Please! Dont let him beat you! The shadow once again walked her over and sat her down next to the unconscious man. Shakaju shook Heero awake. Relena gasped again when she saw his eyes. They had that dead look to them there was never much emotion to Heeros eyes, but there was always at least a bit of a spark of life. No such spark now. His eyes were a dead void of icy blue. Shakaju spoke from next to her. Heero? Do you know this girl? Heeros dead eyes locked with her tearful baby blue. He looked at her for a long moment before slowly shaking his head. Relena couldn't take it. Tears poured down her face as she tried to free herself from the shadow. Heero didn't know her?!? Heero!! Heero! Please! Its me, Relena! Snap out of it! Heero! she screamed helplessly. Shakajus face showed a gut wrenching smile like the one Wufei had shown the night before. He laughed at his triumph before telling Heero to stand. Heero did and stared straight ahead, no emotion in his dead eyes. Shakaju circled Heero once, looking him over, savoring the fact that he now had control of the most powerful weapon in the world. Relena slumped to the ground as the shadow released her. She stared at Heero. His eyes were lifeless. He was once again the emotionless, heartless killing machine he had been at the beginning of the war. A person that Heero had fought so hard to kill. He was back. Relena stood shakily as her brother ran over to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders in an attempt to comfort her. Relena. Are you alright? he asked, worry saturating his voice. Relena gave no response. She just stared at the machine standing in the center of the room. She couldnt believe Heero wasnt there anymore! There was no warmth to him. Not anymore. She could no longer sense the warmth she had felt when he pulled her close to his body in an attempt to calm her from her nighmare. The warmth she had felt when he wrapped his arms around her shoulders as he protected her from kicks he thought were meant to get him away so they could get her. She couldnt believe that he no longer knew her. She just couldnt! She pushed herself from her brothers grasp and ran toward Heero. Heero! You have to remember me! Please! Remember what weve been through together the last few days! Please Heero! she yelled. She reached him and threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms under his and around his bare torso, sobbing into his chest. Please! Heero! she cried, not looking at him. Heero lifted his arms as she hugged him. Who was this girl? What was wrong with her? Whoever she was, Master didnt want him associating with her. So, hed have to get her off. He grabbed her shoulders and squeezed lightly, although, it caused her to cry out. He pulled her away and then let go. He looked at her eyes for a moment, there was something familiar to them, before backhanding her across the face. Relena flew through the air and hit the far wall. She sat shakily up and put a hand to her badly bruised cheek. Tears still poured from her eyes as she looked at Heero, his dead eyes narrowed at her. Milliardo ran over to her, and helped her to her feet. He sent a piercing glare over to Heero as she stood. Shakaju glowed with pride. Alright! With him, well have the ESUN and the colonies conquered in no time at all!! he cried. Heero didnt seem to be hearing any of what was being said. He seemed to only have ears for commands given by Shakaju. Which was fine by him. Lets give him a test run, shall we? Shakaju asked proudly. He pointed in the direction of the other four gundam pilots. Heero raced at them with inhuman speed. Within minutes, all four were on the floor, conscious, but bearly able to move. Heero turned to Milliardo and Relena. The former was standing protectively in front of the latter. Heero slowly approached them, an intimidating sight. Relena was not intimidated, nor afraid. She knew that the Heero that she knew was in there somewhere, and she knew that he wouldnt kill her. No matter how hard the perfect soldier tried, the real Heero would protect her as he always had. Heero approached Milliardo. Even though the man only came up to Milliardos neck, Milliardo was nervous. Not for himself. He was worried that is Heero defeated him, he could get to Relena. Heero drew back his fist and landed a strong punch to Milliardos stomach. Milliardo gasped as all of the air was forced out of him. He sank to his knees and coughed up a bit of blood, before passing out. Heero turned his eyes on Relena. Relena backed up against the wall. She knew he wouldnt kill her, but he still scared her to death! She noticed that throughout the entire time he was beating people up, Heero showed no emotion. Not pleasure, satisfaction, not sadness. Nothing! The heartless, emotionless killing machine really had come back from its dormancy. Heero looked hard at Relena. There was something about her. She seemed so familiar. But he couldnt remember from where. But, he couldnt hesitate. His master told him to deal with her. So he would. However, he had this nagging feeling that he should be gentler with her than with the others. That she held some significance in his life. What am I saying? This is ridiculous. The only one who holds any significance is my master! Heero grabbed her around the neck and was about to lift her up, but something stopped his hand. Nothing physical, just something. He looked into her tearing, pleading eyes and shook his head free of the ridiculous thoughts. He lifted her up about a foot, but a sharp pain shot through his arm. He looked around, expecting to see the source, but none was evident. The pain seemed to be coming from inside him. He didnt understand where or why, but no sloppy emotions could get in his way. He hit her head against the wall, but she didnt pass out. He had only tapped her head. WHATS WRONG WITH ME!?!? He mentally screamed. He dropped her, turned back and walked to Shakaju. Shakaju wasnt too happy about Heeros hesitating like that, but he let it go. He had knocked out the other four gundam pilots as well as Milliardo, so, he guessed that that was enough for now. Heero and Shakaju, along with the rest of the shadow people, jumped over to the balcony, then jumped away. Relena sat up. He hesitated! That means that when he sees me, it triggers something in his mind! All we have to do is keep giving him memories! Hell come back to us! Relena rushed to help everyone along with Lucrezia, Une, and Sally. |
