| Chapter One Saigo |

| Whats this? commander Kenka Buki asked to no one in particular. He approached the small wiggling bundle. Kenka Buki was the former commander and trainer of the Canadian troops. He had powerful arms and a strong torso. His hair was a red mane of fire, and his eyes were deep sky blue. He lived alone and didnt get out much since his retirement. This evening, he had left his home in rural Canada to investigate the recent kidnapping of the Heiwa girl in the US. Minnesota, to be exact. Dont know why theyre calling me about it. He had thought. But, Im not trained to ask questions. He had gone down all the roads in his area, and hadnt found anything. He started home when this old barn caught his eye. It was probably because of the huge dent and hole in the side. Yeah, probably. He came in to find this small wiggling bundle in the midst of a bunch of collapsed boxes. He ever so gently picked up the thing and was about to open it, when it began crying! A child? Sure enough, when he pulled aside the blankets, a small baby greeted his eyes. And she was crying. Loud. He put his hand under her, trying to make her more comfortable. But still, she wailed. How did you get in here? he asked over her wails. Its okay. Its oka- Kenka stopped as a cold wet spot touched his hand. He turned her over and gasped at the blood running down her back. The red liquid was coming from a small horizontal gash across the back of her shoulders. It looked about a couple millimeters deep and fairly serious. I gotta get you some help, baby. With that said, he darted out the door, the child in hand. *** Kenka sat in the waiting room of the childrens hospital. Waiting for any response from the doctors on the babys condition. Shes a beautiful girl. Her black hair and green eyes. Absolutely gorgeous! He thought. Does she have parents? What if she is the Heiwa child?! But, what is she doing in Canada? The Heiwas live in the US. Kenka looked around until he found a remote that powered the television that hung on the wall across from him. He flipped it on and turned to the news channel, hoping to get an update on the kidnapping. Sure enough, a redheaded reporter appeared and began speaking on that very subject. And in the Heiwa kidnapping story, the twenty-five year old man that kidnapped little Joy has been arrested. The screen showed a picture of the man being searched by a policeman while many other officers stood by with multiple guns pointed at him. The kidnapper had short blonde hair and looked like a gangster. He was ridiculously built and had a scowl on his face. His eyes were hazel with a hint of dirt brown. The woman, off screen, continued. He refused to identify himself any other way except for Malice. He was arrested an hour ago when the Heiwas received a call from the man demanding a ransom. Having caller ID, the police soon tracked the phone number. The screen changed again, back to the reporter. The sad part, however, is that little Joy was killed in the ordeal. A pile of blood soaked clothes and blankets as well as a bloody knife found in Malices car gave evidence that Malice had killed the child during the police chase. The blood covering the articles was then proved to be Joys. However the body was never found, so the Heiwas are not allowed to press the charge of murder, but I assure you, Malices punishment will be severe. All of our prayers and sorrows reach out to parents Brian and Mary Heiwa and older brother Derek for their loss. Kenka turned off the television and sat back in his chair. Soif Joy Heiwa was killed, whos this kid? She mustve been abandoned! Butwho would abandon such a gorgeous child? Someone a few cards short of a full deck. I dont just wanna put her up for adoption. I want to keep her. I have been looking for a child that I can raise as a soldier. One that I can show those guys that even though Im 29 and retired from the service, Im still a great soldier! Kenka screwed up his smiling face to one of disgust. He remembered all the taunts he had received when he announced his retirement. What? Too old for the military now, Buki? Looks like youve lost your touch, old man! Thats it! Ill train her to be a perfect soldier! The ultimate weapon! Besides. Who else is there? All of the soldiers in the army are too old. The youngest are around seventeen. I would need someone from infancy. I gotta grab this chance now! Buki? a woman walked into the waiting room, scaring Kenka out of his wits. Yes? |
