How Our Romance Blossomed
Kent e-met Ruby for the first time on 01/08/2002 when he asked "poem" for a private chat in Parachat Romance room.  After a little introduction, she said that her name was Leola.  Our first chat lasted about four hours.  We exchanged pictures of ourselves through Yahoo Messenger.  When Kent saw the picture of Ruby, he thought that she was one knockout lady.  Certainly the beauty inside had to match her external beauty.  When Ruby revealed that she is from Indonesia, Kent thought that it was impossible to have a relationship with someone else halfway around the world, let alone being able to afford travel after being furloughed by United Airlines.  Anyhow, we continued chatting and learned that both of our careers had been in the airline industry.  Travel was the common thread that kept our chat going.  We agreed to chat again the next evening.  Just before we ended the first chat, Ruby admitted that she lied about her name being Leola.  That was the first sign of our future.

From that day on until mid-March, we chatted at least five times a week for a minimum of four hours per chat.  I was unemployed at that time with a lot of free time on my hands and she always found a way to chat with me from her office.  Being a night owl that I am, it was a prime time for me to chat from about 11 pm to about 3 a.m.  Due to the time difference, it would be afternoon the next day in Jakarta while she was chatting with me. 

Before we e-met, Ruby already had made tentative plans to visit friends in North Carolina using her vacation time.  Our daily chats evolved from friendly talk into romantic talk.  Finally we decided that we should meet in person and see if the romance is for real.  So Ruby made a change in her plans to include a stopover in Chicago to meet me for three days before continuing on to NC.  Later on, we modified her vacation plans so that she would be in Chicago the entire time.  If it did not work out, she could always leave and visit friends in NC.  So we began the countdown to March 15, 2002 to meet for the first time.
