| RIDER of the WEEK | |||||||||||||||||
| March 26th 2002: Rider Selected- Corey Green Class: 65cc Corey was one of many 65cc racers to ride in the Tacoma Dome this last weekend. The Pace Arenacross promoters put on an event for Kawasaki called the KX MINI CHALLENGE. Let me be the first to say, it was not a chalenge, it was complete chaos! The ruts from the 125 and the 250 Pro's were so deep you could stand in them and not see your foot. Now how do you expect to have a bunch of 11 year old and under kids race on a poorly maintained track like this? Well they did. The reason I have chosen Corey for rider of the week is not because he won the event, or because he was my friend this last weekend..... But because of how much heart he rode with. Corey, unfortunetly, didnt qualify either night. On friday Corey rode to the 7th fastest lap time in practice and was more then ready for the qualifiers. Only to be subjected to road block made by other racers. On Saturday he was a totally different racer. He was in top three in his LCQ for a large portion of the race. On the third lap a surtain racer came close and took him out over the catipolt jump. I could tell from that moment on he was devistated. He rode and finished with his head held high. When he entered the pits, you could he would not go home a saticfied costomer. He, among more of team Kent Kawasaki crashed out of Qualifying postions. ALL of our racers deserve to be rider of the week because of the sportsmanship, profetionalism, and big hearts this last weekend, but Corey Green is more than ready to hold that KX 65 WIDE OPEN for the remainder of the year. thats a fact! From #189:"GOOD LUCK in 2002 Corey, and Keep you head high!!!!!" |
