This is an image you cannot forget. This young girl lived in the village at the base of Hill 69. Whenever you left the battalion position - to travel about the enclave, in convoy headed for the pickup site to be deployed on an operation - she seemed always there in her yard. Just watching, with little or no expression on her face. We and war had become commonplace to her. Sad.

In memory of LCpl Robert Guy Brown, KIA on Operation Texas on March 21, 1966. LCpl Brown had been the acting artillery FO for Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines. He had just turned 19.  Semper Fi.
