It is with great sadness that I mark here the passing of Ruby. Owned by George Gervais of Saskatoon, and trained for driving by Terry Partington, Ruby was an enthusiastic and energetic competitor. Terry likes to comment about Ruby that she was the one who pulled Wonder, her teammate, around during dressage, cones, and three quarters of the marathon, then sit back and let Wonder take the lead in the hazards.

Ruby was originally intended to be a race horse, but I'm told she never did race. Her race name was Imaruby. She certainly was a gem. As a driving horse, she was exceptionally strong, and together with Wonder and Terry at the reins won the Intermediate Pairs competition at the High Country CDE in Calgary last year, as well as the Western Canadian Interprovincial Award at the same show.

Unfortunately, she was stricken with severe colic this July, and had to be euthanized to relieve her suffering. She will be sorely missed By Wonder, Terry, George and his family, and myself.

She was a beautiful girl.
