This is Kerri's bike.  I gave it to her so she could have something to learn how to ride on.  It's a 1975 Kawasaki G5, or better known nowadays as a KE100.  It had 551 miles on it when I gave 4 dozen donuts for it.  Man what a deal!

I had one just like it as my first bike.  Mine was a '77 model and blue.  My Dad brought it home in the trunk of a Toyota Corolla in pieces.  We blasted and repainted the frame, took all the electrics off and got the engine running.
I rode that bike for about 5 years and never even changed a spark plug.  I sold it to a friend when I was in High School, and 2 weeks later the points finally gave out!  It was my exploration transportation machine, and it took me every where a non-licensed, non-street legal bike could take me.
This was my first "big" bike.  It's a '83 Honda Nighthawk 650.  I bought it when I moved to San Antonio in 1992 for $600.  I sold it about 5 months later for what I paid for it.  I used it to find my way around town.  I would purposely go get lost, and then find my way home again.  You just have to be careful about what side of town you're in after dark.  It was a great bike and just about bullet-proof.
OTHER MENTIONABLES:

In 1996, just before Kerri and I moved into our house, a freind of mine (Buz) told me about an old Kawasaki KZ something that was parked out behind a baby-sitter's house.  They were going to sell it in a garage sale for $50.  Buz knew I liked the old KZ's so we went to look at it.  It turned out to be a KZ650, 1978 model with full fairings.  It hadn't been ridden since '85.  The engine would turn, so I gave the people $50 and towed it home.  $200 in parts later, and I had running beater bike.  I painted it Hunter green.  I rode that bike for 2 years until I found the current bike I have now.

That bike is a
'89 Suzuki GS500E.  I heard about this bike from a local dealer.  The guy was in need of some money, and the bike supposedly hadn't ran in over six months.  I sold the KZ650 for $450 and dished out another $50 for the GS.  After I got it home, I charged the battery for a couple hours and then tried to start it.  It cranked for 2 seconds, then started right up!  Another $15 for a clutch lever & headlight and I was on the road again.  This bike, by far, is the loudest bike I have ever owned.  I can set off car alarms just by blipping the throttle.
The GS is a good size for around town commuting and it is ok for traveling.  It is comfortable, and still a little quick.  I have thought about selling it sometime soon, but that would leave me without something to ride, since I do not have enough money to buy what I want.

Update (4/17/02) I willing (not easily) sold the little Suzook 4 weeks ago to help fund the Z project.  Spent $35 in paint and got a return of $1000!  Not a bad deal at all....
This is what I want.  But that's another story.
