This is were I got to when I last had my Z running before 1996.  I was using the engine and trans. from the '73 w/ the '71 carbs.  I found out early that the '73 carbs were junk, but yet I actaully sold them for $60!  Anyway, the car ran great.  Unfortunately, the frame rail under the battery kept me from driving too much.
These are my 2 sweeties.  My (now) wife and financial co-conspirator regarding all my 4 & 2 wheel endeavors, and my Z.  Both, at the time, swore there was no jealousy, I know there was!  They're both smiling only for the picture.
Things I've done so far:

Besides the engine and transmission transplant, I used the hood from the '73 and the wheels (which are 280ZX) and I swapped out the steering racks.  As the car sits now, it has been completely stripped of all paint and is waiting for small areas of body work to be completed.  I had the passenger side floor replaced and the battery area.  Once the body work is completed, then the body will be prepped for paint.  I wanted to paint it like my Dad's 240 which was black, but that would have involved too much work on the interior to make everything match.  So I've decided to stick with the original red.
The gas tank also had to be repaired.  When I bought the car, I soon found out there was 1/4" of sludge in the tank.  I cleaned it out with a mild acid and rinsed everything as best as I could with water.  When I got the engine running again, I found out water wasn't enough.  Everytime I would go to step on the gas hard, the engine start to die.  Turned out the filter was clogging from the rust.  A radiator shop here in town offers a gas tank renewal system with a lifetime warranty, so I tried it.  $150 later, I have yet to have any problems (although I haven't driven the car much in the last 4 years).
