Well, it was an interesting summer, I had a room-mate for the summer, and now she has her own place.  But we left as friends, and now I kinda miss her.  I've been to a few new places, but I don't have time to update right now.  Check back in a few days.

June 18, 2002

I've updated the Rants and Raves page, music, and Friends.  And my new E-mail address is
By the way, this page is best viewed in Internet Explorer.  I can't seems to get Netscape to work right.

I now have high speed access again!  So now maybe I'll update a lot more, as it's so much easier now!  My new E-Mail is

Well, I've updated many pages, Music, Rants and Raves, Friends, and Shout Out.

I had typed a lot here, but My stupid computer got confused and closed the window before I finished...  Damn technology.

I've been getting out more these days, and let me tell you, does it feel good!
It was getting to the point where I was cleaning my apartment, if you can believe that.  Things are getting better.  Slowly.  I've got a list of things that I need to do to get things together, and I've been doing them, one at a time.  I like the progress I've made, and I hope to have more soon.  I want to thank all the friends who have helped me along the way.

On the 11th, President George W. Bush was at my hotel.  It was quite interesting.  Everyone suddenly had a lot more to do.  They painted everything, cleaned everything, and basicly did everything they could to insure that everything looked great, and ran smoothly.  Things went well, and actually went a lot easier than expected.  The hotel has been stepping up a few notches.  We are remodeling Lilly's, and their new manager is trying to get us all to recomend our restaurant.  The bellman are polishing the bell carts, and people just seem to be taking more pride in their work.  It's amazing what a visit from the president can do.

Today I think I'll share my refrigerator magnet poetry with you.  Keep in mind that my choices were limited, as it was a Kansas City.com promo I got about a year ago.

Well, I've visited some more restaurants, so scroll down to see reviews.

     For ranting...

I've been hanging out with some old friends lately, and I have realized that they are not something to be taken for granted.  Sometimes friends will keep us sane.

April 14, 2002

Another random person found my website.  I wonder how that happens?  And why do they always use fake names?  (shrug)  Oh well...  Whatever, at least I've stolen a small portion of their life, that they will never get back.  That's my new rant.  That page has been updated.  Other than that, not much.  I just don't seem to get around to updating much around here.

Oh, by the way, I've moved into my apartment in beautiful Downtown Kansas City!  I've got a great view of the city.  Plus, I can walk to work.  I love it!  All I have to do now is get high speed internet.

February 24, 2002

Well, someone visited my page, so I suppose now would be a good time to do an update.  I've been staying at home a lot lately, so I have managed to save up some money.  I'll be moving to Downtown Kansas City in a month (hopefully)  so maybe then I'll be able to have a social life again.

Hello, today is April 14, 2002

How do you lose a portion of your life?  Well, unless you find yourself held captive somewhere, anything that you choose to do, spends precious moments.  If you find yourself doing somewhere or going somewhere and you hate it.  You are wasting time.  Someone visited my site, and generally complained about it.  That's fine, I can take criticism.  Especially about my spelling, cause it sucks.  There is a reason I'm not an english major.  But what gets me is complaints about nothing better to do with my time....   If I have so much free time, why do I only update this site like 4 times a year?  Also, Apparantly they have nothing better to do with their time than to look at my site.

Which gets me to my original thought.  The idea, that through the net, I can steal a few moments of time, from some random person I've never met, that's kinda cool.  I mean, somebody is looking at me, watching me eat a sandwich, and they are on the other side of the country!  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to put my whole life on display, like some people do with webcams, but it's interesting.
Some people say that the only way to live forever, is to have your words in print somewhere.  Well, here they are, on the net, for anyone who cares to read.  I think that's what it's all about.  People everywere, trying to live forever.  Hmm.  It kinda makes me think.  This person, who doesn't like my site, has now got my "Ugly Mug" burned into their memories.  Like it or not, they carry me around.  I think that's just grand.

December 19, 2001

I was listining to the radio today as I was driving home, and I realized that most, if not all of the songs on the radio are about Love.  It's kind of an intersting phenomon.  Makes you wonder if the record exceutives are very lonely people.  I also discovered that I could write songs like that just as eaisily.  I Know all about the "Search" for love.

December 12, 2001

Well hello everyone...  I have nothing to rant about, but I do have a new addition...
A quick review of the restaurants I have been to lately (and some not so lately...

I'm going to start off with the Kansas City Originals.  These are Kansas City independently owned restaurants.  Fine dining at it's best.
I'll first list the ones I've been to.  The underlined restaurants have links to their websites
.

Bluebird Bistro:  Small place at 17th and Summit, actually, it's bigger than I thought.  One of my best friends, Ali Conrad was sous chef here.  She was featured on Dec 8th on channel 5's 5 minute chef.  This place is perfect for those who like to have heathy food, (free range, Hormone free meats and fresh herbs) but don't want to sacrifice flavor.

Frondizi's:  A northen Italian place, just a block from the Country Club Plaza.  The former chef from Lidia's (Linda Dewer) is there, and she's from Boston, so she has great seafood specials.  She has a way of making the classic items in unusual ways that please the tastebuds.

JJ's: American continental.  Just 2 blocks outside of the plaza on 48th.  This cozy restaruant features Kansas City's best winelist, and one of the top 100 in the world.  A must try is the Paco Shrimp.  It has a very warm feel, and just enough decorations to give privacy in a small space.  Because of the small space, there is a tendency for the noise level to get loud.  But The food is outstanding, and the service faultless.

La Bodega
:  A Spanish tapas restaurant.  They have the best Sangria in town, and their tapas are to die for.  Or maybe they just make life worth living.  Andrew, a bartender is a friend of mine.  Good guy, if you go, tell him you heard about it from me.

Le Fou Frog:  French Food at it's finest.  Owner Mano is from France (naturally) and when he decided to open a French restaurant in KC everyone told him he was crazy.  So he called it Le Fou Frog, which means, The crazy frog.  They have lots of seafood there, and the food is amazing.  You really must try it.  Especially the Fellet Le Fou.  Another friend works here, Tony.  Tell him I sent you.

Macaluso's:  Southern Italian.  Owner Tom Macaluso is a great guy with a great sense of humor.  You have to have the crab cakes.  They will literally melt in your mouth.  Very cozy place, go on a monday to hear the music!

The Majestic Steak House
:  Just a few blocks away from the hotel I work at, this place gets a lot of our buisness.  And with Great steaks, Live Jazz, a great atmosphere, and a Cigar club to boot, is it any wonder?  They have a great staff here, David, host...  Anne, bartender...  and Kevin, waiter.  and many others.  If you go downtown for any reason, or even if you don't, make Majestic a must see on your list.

Pierpont's at Union Station
:  Operated by the Hereford House, this restaurant is a welcome addition to the list.  Although it has the backing of the Hereford house, it's still locally owned and operated.  And I have to say that they do a a great job.  Located inside Union Station, the food goes perfectly with the plush surroundings.  And though it's quite a large restaurant, it's separated into smaller rooms, so it doesn't feel overwhelming.  A unique dish is their shrimp cocktail, which is presented on a slab of ice.  They had some menu items from the Titanic when the exibit was in town, and they were so popular that they remained on the menu.

The Stolen Grill:  Closed.  Owner to persue other interests.

Zin
:  Like the Stolen Grill, Zin has GREAT food.  I was a little worried before I went in that it would be too modern for my tastes, but it has that modern look, with out the cold feelings that many places put off.  Not far from Downtown or Crown Center, it's perfect for that quiet dinner for 2 or more.

That's all I've been to, here are the rest.

Cafe Sebastienne
:  Inside the Kemper Museum, this restaurant will complete your day of fine art, with fine food.

The Grille on Broadway:  Other than the fact that it's at about 36th and broadway, I don't know much about this place.

Honeymom's
:  I have heard nothing but good things about this place.  Apparantly it's inside an antique shop.

Jardines
:  Near the Plaza, this place has got some great jazz

Joe D's
:  I know nothing about this place.  Something I need to correct.

Osteria IL Centro
:  Apparantly under new managment.  I need to find out more.

The Raphael
:  Owned by the same family I work for, (the Pistilli's)  this restaurant is well known as being one of KC's most romantic.

Re:Verse:  On the plaza, this is one of the new Hip places to eat and drink.  It is supposed to be like an old Beat bar.

Shiraz:  Again, I know it's good, but I  havn't been there, so I don't know what it's like.

Please take an evening and visit one of those Restaurants.  I promise you it will be worth the trip
.

Now for some ranting...

On Tuesday, September 11, two planes crashed into the World Trade Center.  There is no longer a world trade center.  Some 6,000 people are presumed dead.  Four airplanes total were hijaked, and then piloted by the hijakers.  The other 2 planes went after the president...  Supposedly.  One plunged into the Pentagon.  The other crashed landed in Pennsylvania.  Supposedly the passingers caused it to miss it's target.
The ones responsible for this action are presumed linked to Osama Bin Ladin.  President George W. Bush has unofficially declared a War on Terrorism. (note: see April 1996.)
The whole nation is calling for BLOOD.  Imagine the entire city of Moberly Missouri...  GONE!!!  6,000 people.  I went to college there...  I knew a lot of people there...  To imagine Everyone from that town, gone...  It boggles the mind.  That is a collosal amount of people.
Billions of people are doing everything they can.  From giving money, to giving their very life blood...  Everyone wants to do SOMETHING...  I even have that urge myself.
Our country needed something like this.  We have been sitting around getting FAT for FAR too long.  This was our wake up call.  Our country will never be the same.

Today is Thursday, August 16th, 2001.

To continue from the front page...  I want to say that a lot has changed in the last 5 years.  I have learned a lot...

I have a lot I want to do...
Right now however...  I lack the motivation...  I just want to get back to recording my journals...  Maybe I'll put some of them here later.
