From news.com.au 6 July 2001 Rabbits win appeal From our wire services 06jul01 SOUTH Sydney today succeeded in their last ditch bid to be re-admitted into the National Rugby League. After six weeks of deliberations, the Federal Court handed down its decision in favour of South's appeal against their exclusion from the NRL. Foundation club the Rabbitohs began their bitter legal battle with News Ltd 18 months ago when they didn't make the NRL cut after the competition was reduced to 14 teams. This decision does not mean they will be automatically returned to the competition.
