27 May 2003 The Allight South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed former St George Illawarra Dragon Ryan Tandy for the remainder of the 2003 National Rugby League season. Peters' face connected with a St George Illawarra players' knee as he dove in an attempt to force the ball for try and, as a result, he suffered a badly broken nose and concussion. The Rabbitohs number seven also picked up a shoulder injury, which is another hurdle for Peters if he is to take the field this Saturday night. Souths are taking on the Parramatta Eels at Parramatta Stadium in a clash of the bottom two clubs on the NRL ladder. http://www.ozleague.com/news_article.asp?id=46994 25 May 2003 Battling Bunnies sunk, Panthers extend win streak A battling South Sydney side went down by just two points to St George Illawarra at the SCG on Sunday afternoon after referee Bill Harrigan controversially disallowed a Rabbitohs' try with just minutes to go. In Sunday's other match, the Penrith Panthers recorded their sixth straight win with a 26-4 win over an outclassed Wests Tigers side at Campbelltown stadium to move into the NRL top four. At the SCG, the Rabbitohs' hopes of clawing their way off the bottom of the NRL ladder were washed away in the rain which turned parts of the pitch into a muddy quagmire. The Dragons led 12-0 early, trailed 16-12 at half-time but hit the front 21 minutes into the second half when Dean Byrne, filling in for injured captain Trent Barrett, backed up scrumhalf Brett Firman to score a converted try. The crunch came in the final minutes of the second half with the scores locked at 16-16, when Harrigan disallowed a try from Rabbitohs' skipper Bryan Fletcher. Harrigan penalised Fletcher for double movement after the decision was referred back to him by video referee Eddie Ward.
